Talking OnStar + Camaro = Win Today

My keyless/remote start in the Camaro tends to act a little funky when it gets really cold. Today while I was getting fuel, with my keys in the ignition and my phone in the Camaro, it decided to lock itself. Awesome. It's icing outside and really coming down, and I was just like...

So I couldn't use my phone app to unlock it or my keys. I ran into the gas station and asked to use their phone and called OnStar. 2 minutes later, my car was unlocked!!

Just had to share. OnStar just paid for itself!

And actually I got it for free thanks to State Farm. Check it out if you have State Farm and your OnStar is expired!

I have State Farm. I don't get Onstar free but they reduce my rates because of Onstar. Enough to pay for Onstar!

I was not aware of this. I'll be looking it up though. I never touched the blue button in this car and I bought it new. Not once. They tried to call me on it once or twice but I don't recall accepting and, if I did, I surely told them to scram.

Free will work though. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe that's the gimmick? It's not really free but it is if your rates don't change? I still need to look this up...

I love onstar, amazing service, not so keen though on them being able to kill my car with a flick of a switch.....

How did you get it free through State Farm? I dropped OnStar partly because the SF discount (literally $3.50 per six months) was a joke.

In my case I don't drive my car more than 2500 miles in 6 months so I get a good discount on ins.

Maybe it's different. Different city/states different policies. (Just assuming.)

I sometimes get forgetful in stressful times. So I've locked my keys in the car maybe 4 or 5 times in the year and a half I've had it. Last time was at my bank and I didn't have my phone. Same as you, dialed, they confirmed it was me, it was unlocked by the time I walked outside.

I'm happy to have the service. Cheaper and faster than a locksmith 3 or 4 times a year.
