HID Headlights, Rear Taillamps.

Hello everyone.... I ordered my baby on October 14, 2008 with my dealer. With all the excitement and confusion unfortunetly mine was somehow ordered without the RS package. According to GM this includes HID headlamps, special tail lamps, and midnight wheels. I already ordered polished alluminum wheels for it so I am not concerned about the wheels. I ordered the RS headlights and tailights from the dealer parts department today. Something tells me these will not just plug right in after installation. The units ordered from parts include the entire housing, HID bulbs, halo rings, ballasts, etc. The taillights should be an easy swap however. If anyone else if thinking of doing this or has already begun I would appreciate any feedback you may have.

What did you pay? We had a long discussion on here ealrier on what the GM price would be. I am considering the same thing as you. I didn't see the need to pay $1200 for lights only. I'll ask my dealer for more details this weekend when I pick up the car.

Here's info I found from a dealer:
"3 of the 4 tail light are available from GM (of course, not all 4). They run $69.70 each.

The HID headlights are available, but one is backordered. They run $687.11 each. They come complete with ballasts and all needed electronics. I believe that the harness for the headlamps would also need to be changed. The harness is not available from GM and I do not have pricing at this time."

I figure that one of the tail lights can be used on both sides. So 4 rears at $70=$280 and 2 Halos at $687 = $1,374 = $1,654 + harness(?).
Jacob, is similar to your pricing?

Had I known I may have ordered th RS package. Oh well, its too late now.

I got a deal at 620.00 per HID/HALO fixture. I think 70.00 on the rear tail lamps. One headlight has arrived and 3/4 tail lights. Waiting for the rest to come in before I start the project. It does look like most of the front bumper will need to be removed to replace the HID/HALO units. Some re-wiring for the DRL's as well.

Kind puts the value of the RS package in perspective, huh?

Ya seriously puts RS package value in perspective....i mean $1200 dollars and i got all that stuff plus painted roof ditch molding, now if you really wanna put it in true perspective, price the front and rear red ss emblems and get a quote from a body shop to paint mouldings....gonna be close to $2000, and its still gonna be a RS clone car.
Give me my RS package for $1200 please and put it on in the factory.

Yes, reading my original post, I ordered my Camaro with the RS package but it was dropped in error. Not to mention many people thought with a 2SS package that it would include all upgrade packages beneath it. For instance when you order an LTZ Silverado you are going to get all the options included in the LS and LT versions. Chevrolet messed this up for many people by not including the RS package. ohh well.

The RS package is a package you can add to any level of trim. GM didnt mess up anything, its the uninformed customers fault if they think an apperance package is included in the top trim package.

One post showed aftermarket halos much cheaper if you want to search it, seamed to be in the 300 range per pair. I read it on this site about 3 weeks ago.
