Lio, not sure about California, but in Virginia, one can reserve plates when you have a VIN. Naturally i'm not allowed to pick them up untill the car arrives. Contact your DMV!

Just off the phone with the dealership. According to them the invoice "copy" they have shows that the car is due here by next Thursday!! I really want to believe them, I truly do...

I sent my dealership an email and this was their response.

Great news Ryan.

Your Camaro has been built. The invoice shows it was shipped 11/16/12. If that date is correct, it normally takes 2 to 3 weeks to arrive at our dealership.

Obviously it hasn't been shipped yet since Becky said it just got back from getting the hood wrapped. The 2-3 weeks to get to the dealership is kind of what I was expecting. I'm hoping for 2 weeks.
