The GM think tank knows that when it does come out a lot of people who already bought the SS will trade it in on the Z/28, effectivly selling 2 cars instead of one.

The gentlemen have a job to do and thats not making us happy, it's selling cars to get the company out of a big whole.

how many camaro sales do you think it would take to save gm a hell of a lot at least 200k sales you think adding a z28 will boost sales that much. i dont get it wake up and smell the starbucks

In one of the interviews, I think Welburn or someone or other, was quoted saying the entire Z/28 project was just decided to be prohibitively expensive - and I think the figure they threw out there was $50 million. This probably means that it will never come to market. Ever. Unless a cheaper alternative is found. I'm trying to find that interview.

hey, if gm is already in debt to their heads, what difference is it if they make the z28 or not? =D Hell, take some of those damn boring buicks off the road, and theyll have no problem producing the Z28 haha

I didn't say the Z/28 would do it all by itself but it will sell more cars and every bit helps. That's why they didn't release the convertible right away either. I guarantee you there are people driving a coupe right now that will trade it in on a convertible as soon as they come out. Why do you think they delay different models the way they do or offer different colors or options year after year?

They do this to keep sales moving.

Were not talking about developing a brand new car here, it's just a change to some body panels, a new badge, a handling package and hopefully more HP.

The goal for GM right now is to start heading towards the black and every car they sell will help.

GM probably would like to listen to its audience for Camaro, but the government probably won't let them. Fuel economy standards. Sayonara Pontiac G8, they're lucky the Camaro got released in time. Fuel economy is definitely important, especially for commuter and mass market cars, but they gotta satisfy the niche cravings and build up a Z/28. They could also make a lot of money by replacing my pants every time I even saw one on the streets...
