What compression ratio are you running? looking to rebuild.

So far the two shops I contacted want to rebuild my or replace my engine with a 417 CI and drop the compression to 9.1.

I really love the sound of high compression at idle. I also am totally happy with what I have now. Is there any real reason why I cant just get my same 6.2L set up but in a forged version. Or is dropping the compression necessary.

I plan on tracking the car. Maybe 1 or 2 times a year.

I'd do high compression
only reason id advice against it is if you don't want to run 93/meth/e85

I'm running twins on 11.1 compression no problem

I was planning on sticking with 93 octane.

depending on how much boost you want to run you'd might need some meth, you might ping without it

If you’re not going E85...stay in the 9-10:1 range. If you are going to do E85...then you’d be smart to be in the 10.5-11:1 range.

There’s a good highly technical article out there somewhere that explores what’s better...more compression and lower boost...or lower compression and higher boost. The conclusion of it is that your always better lowering compression and turning up the boost. Some argue that’s old school and that these new engines and heads are so efficient that you can up the compression. But most people also want E85 too.

Fun topic to research. Tough to answer. I’m contemplating the same thing.
