Microfiber towel and detail spray. I clean it every week (for Camaro meets), so grime doesn't have enough time to build up.

Found a product years ago that is actually becoming hard to find. Bummer. It's "Steam Premium" engine cleaner AND a separate engine detailer from the same company. Does a great job without the nasty "Gunk" type products out there. I'm in AZ as well, and this stuff gets dirty quick. I love this stuff, but now I am having trouble finding it again.
Added: Just went to Gumout's website and they don't list it anymore, my gut feeling is that it has been discontinued. It's the best stuff I've come by for light duty engine cleaning in 30 years. Oh well.....if I ever find it again I'm buying the store out of stock. Last edited by cactuseater; 08-17-2011 at 01:59 AM. Reason: added information |

After I wash and dry, the surface of the car, I grab a cheap microfiber towel (about 3x2 ft size) and do the doorjambs, under the trunk and then the engine bay. If you just use this damp towel everytime you wash the car, it stays clean. Maybe a little detail spray and then you can dress the plastics with whatever you like.

I wash the car and then use a towl to dry door jambs, inside of trunk opening and engine. Its not bad if you do it all the time. Once it builds up its a pain in the a**. I did pressure wash the engine bay one time without any issues but you have to be very careful around the electronics.
