LS3 Clutch Replacement

Ok, didn't see a DIY for clutch replacement in here so going to put it out there. Starting to pull my 2011 apart today to install a new clutch (RPS twin disc carbon/Street Slayer).

So looking for some tips for the transmission removal and clutch replacement. If you have any, let me know. Thanks.

No it shouldn't be but rather learn from someone elses trial and error than my own. We shall see I guess. Also would help to get some of the torque specs on everything and if any of these bolts are the torque to yield throw-aways.

Good to know. Transmission came out today without too much difficulty. Wondering about how it will be going back in. How was bleeding the clutch? Looks like a tight fit to the bleed line. Any hang-ups?

It was a little tight bleeding it, I just used a 9mm open end flexable angle wrench and worked like a champ. Could also use a socket and wobble but would leak a little fluid, are you changing the slave out?

I suggest getting the Tick Performance remote speed bleeder while the trans is out. Will make it easy to flush the fluid in the future as well.

No, using the same slave but since it was disconnected to remove the transmission going to need to be bled. Was going to purchase that remote bleeder line from Tick Performance but they are out of stock until next month so going to do it the harder way I guess.

Yeah I got a little ahead of myself and did not snap many photos to this point. I'll see if I can get enough putting it back together to make a DIY. Not real good about stopping to take photos and notes though so we'll se how it goes.

i just blew my slave cylinder in my twin disc, i would def consider upgrading this as it will leave you starnded and you will have to reove everything again if it blows..http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...age=18...video 2

Read your other post. Got any pics to show the carnage and what might have caused the failure? Not going to upgrade the slave at the moment but will look into options for the future if necessary. Expecting to pull the tranny out again down the road for some RPM transmission upgrades anyhow.

I really want the manual to work. Lots of guys shifting over to the 4L80E and such but I bought a manual car to be more "connected" to the road/track. We'll see how it goes from here.

won,t tear it down for a week or 2, i have a 427 lsx and 4l80 already here, was gonna tear down in 2 weeks ...so that date just got moved up...no since in fixing it now...but i,m 99% sure the slave gave out..also when talking to my mech he said he has seen it b4 on hard shifting , so he is not surprised...i only wish i had known b4 i installed the clutch...this would suck 200 miles from home...as i go to pony wars and run at track......thought your post was a good place to let others know, since it seems they have upgraded this part for something a little stronger...
