45th anniversary question

How come Chevrolet used vinyl stripes instead of painting the stripes on for the 45th edition camaro?

Because vinyl holds up better than the Camaro paint. On a serious note, it's probably because of cost.

I don't care if they're glued or painted, as long as they won't chipped!

My guess is cost and the fact that Vinyl might be easier for mass production. Even the 60th anniversary corvettes have vinyl stripes

I too wondered this, makes you think to maybe have them painted on in the even they would ever come off.

I believe there are a few 45th owners that have had them removed and painted on. It's in one of the 45th threads.

Any time I bring my car to the car wash( which is not often, I tell them to not use the power washer on the hood or trunk for fear of the stripes coming off. I wonder, if you could have the hood clear coated over the stripes......

A car wash won't rip them off, trust me. My stripes and even my plastidip doesn't come off my front lip or wheels in a touchless wash where they're basically powerwashed, so the vinyl stripes should hold up.
