either way. Charlie said I can come up there and ride drive one of there cammmed cars and see what I think.
So what benefit do you get of having your power band higher up since the car is indeed a street car?

Why would you not want something that gives you more power down low on the street for when someone tests you at a red-light?

No issues with any of the Big 3.

I take that back... My A/C compressor keeps taking a crap in my DD.. It's been quite the enigma for a certain builder. Lmao

I won't play on the street. I may be young but I'm not dumb. My license is my lively hood. One ticket and I can loose my insurance and business. Could care less about that dick measuring contest. If it makes tons of low power and just roasts the tires it doesn't help me at all.

Mti.... eh. Lol

I've been to vengeance a lot over the years... wasn't overly impressed with a few things.

I would like to give josh a try. I remember him from the gafba days and his shop monkey went to lanier tech with me.

Never said you were dumb.

And a cam only car isn't going to just roast the tires. You'll be able to I agree, but not going to be anything like a blown car.

I would assume a big cam for a high HP number would be the only for a measuring contest if its only street driven. I'd think for a track you'd want more low end to get out of the hole better.

Not always true. You can knock the tires off with too much low end etc in a track car.

Always depends on the car. Etc.

The facepalm wasn't meant towards you David. Just that "500rwhp on stock heads" crap. I've seen these "500hp" cams from shops all over the country. We remove them all the time. Huge duration, way too much overlap, no vacuum at low rpm's, and only make power from 4K-7K. A terrible combination for the 4000lb behemoths that are the 5th Gen.

That isn't meant as a dig towards Charlie because I personally have no problems with the guy, or anyone else for that matter but chasing big horsepower while throwing TORQUE to the side in these cars is a mistake. A big heavy car with a final drive ratio of 3.45 (or less in the auto's) need TORQUE first. After all, torque is the actual end result of an equation while horsepower is a hypothetical equation based off of torque. To achieve torque you need cylinder pressure, proper valve timing events that help push that piston up & down, proper chamber evacuation, etc. You cannot achieve this with a camshaft sporting 15-20 degrees of valve overlap.

Cars that primarily see the street need torque to be fun, responsive street cars. A big max effort camshaft is great if your car stays on the track with a 4.11 gear and lives above 4500 rpm's it's entire life. Otherwise, giving up 10-15 peak HP for a ton more in the midrange is well worth the sacrifice for having a car that put's a smile on your face regardless if you're on or off the throttle.

Anyway, enough jabbing. PM'ing you as soon as I finish up with this next guy down here..... \/ \/

I love a good, educated response.
