2009 Challenger RTX8 vs Camaro
Ok,
you experts out there give me the bad on the Challenger hemi 6.1. My next door neighbor brought one home.. damn nice in my opinion although I have never been a dodge fan. I found one for sale and drove it yesterday. Has 1000 miles on it msrp 45k and the guy spent another 10k on upgrades. It was awesome to drive.. I freaked out and could not believe my wife liked it so much.. we really went out to see out of curiosity. I think i could buy for 42500 and its tagged so saves money there. It is orange and bad to the bone. I have always thought Dodge reliability sucks.. Guys or Gals, give me your opinion good and bad before I buy this thing and make a mistake.!!

The Challenger is a nice ride but I would tell you Camaro all the way...
Camaro = less cost, mean dog fighter looks, and better performance... You'll be sad the first time an SS flys by you... And is it a RT or an SRT8?

It is the SRT8 with the add on stuff would keep up with the camaro straight line but as we all know the Camaro would beat the heck out of it in a street fight..

I paid 38 out the door for my 2SS/RS. I would take the 4g’s put exhaust, FIPK kit/cold air intake, and a tune and be that much more of a killer… No pun intended… The Camaro is just a better deal no matter how you stack the deck…

Sounds like it is a SRT-8. The RT has a 5.7 Hemi... I was leaning towards the Challenger myself until I got the lowdown on the Camaro... I agree with
2010SSRSIO, the Camaro is cheaper, has more horsepower, and from what I have been reading is cheaper on insurance too... My wife drives a Chrysler 300C with the 5.7 Hemi and it will definitely fly. Her car is scary fast... You really do not know how fast you are going...until you look at the speedo. The 300C is our family car and it is fun to drive. I have yet to drive a 2010 Camaro... It is hard for me to imagine the extra 71 ponies without feeling it (as compared to the 300C)... I am like several here, I really wanted mine to be the first Camaro I drive... I guess it comes down to how long to you want to wait and what do you perfer... To me, there is no comparison...

YEP YU R Right
I agree, I am having to talk myself into a Dodge and I have always thought they were not good quality although I do believe Dodge hit a homerun with the Challenger.
Guess I wont have to sell my brochures and all my posters if i keep the Camaro on order. The Camaro feels like a Nascar car on the road, the challenger feels like a big muscle car similar to the 1970 car.. and there is nothing wrong with that.. Its great to live in America where we can have these tough choices to make.. we are so blessed.

I was very close to purchasing a Challenger before I ordered my camaro. I really like the styling of the Challenger, its closer to a 70's muscle car feel. It's fast as hell and sounds really good from inside the car as well as outside. I also liked the extra trunk and rear seat room. But, the SRT was going to run me $10,000 more and I feel it didn't deliver the performance to offset the price difference. The camaro has comparable horses but out handles the Challenger. The Camaro has more of a sports car/muscle car feel to me.
So I guess the choice lies in which one you like the most. I made my choice with the camaro, but I will always like the Challenger.

I was sure I was going to buy the SRT8 Challenger, I love that car but then I test drove a v6 Camaro and loved it so much that I thought how nice it would be with a V8. I then went to a Dodge Dealer and drove their SRT8 Challenger. After driving it I thought it was a little boring inside and too much like my Chrysler 300C I have owned for 5 years and the seats are more comfortable in the Camaro and the Challenger SRT 8 was 7K more than my 2SS/RS so I decided to get my 2SS/RS and have not regretted it at all. I love my Camaro. There just aren't enough days and good whether to drive it as much as I would like.
With that said the Challenger is still a great car and if I was rich I would own one of them also. Heck I would even own a Shelby Mustang too if I had enough cash. I love all three of them. These are great days more muscle car addicts.

Underpowered, suspension sub par, body roll, weight, cheap interior, seats so-so, bulky, gas guzzler tax, small wheels and tire package, looks like a boat. Gas mileage as well.
I have to say the exterior styling is awesome though! I have driven one...I really was not impressed..especially for the price. Drop $10k from the sticker and the Camaro still is the better car. Not because I bought a Camaro, I chose to buy the Camaro.

Thats a $12.5k loss on a car with 1000 miles. I don't get it.

Buy a Camaro and if you would have had the cash to buy the Challenger, just get $10k in upgrades and pimpslap the next Challenger you see on the road. Just a supercharger alone would be a guaranteed win.
