No torque gauge for autos?

I downloaded the press materials from the GMnext site and found this :

More great detail is evidenced in the available center-console gauge cluster, which takes its cue from a similar option on 1969 Camaros. It displays oil temperature, oil pressure, state-of-battery and transmission fluid temperature, all highlighted with modern LED backlighting.

I believe that they decided to go with a torque sensor instead.....
the harder you press the gas... the more torque you sense. Of course you will have to install your sensor daily...

nice.

I'm just happy enough that GM finally learned how to manufacture a transmission with "Tap Shift".....ever since I test drove a Mazda 6...I fell in love with that feature because unfortunately I've never been taught how to drive stick. :(

Seriously it would take you about two days to "learn" how to drivea stick, but maybe a couple of months to perfect it. I wouldn't have a sports car without stick.

that's what everyone tells me but it's finding someone around here to teach me that's a challenge.

Don't worry about it. The Automatic, even with the lower horsepower engine, will be quicker & faster then the manual model due to different transmission gearing and optimized electronic shift points.

I had the same problem. I decided to just go ahead and get a car with a manual transmission. I knew enough about it to get home and took some time to practice on empty local roads before taking it out in traffic again. Lots of good info at standardshift.com too, though lots of hate for the new Camaro.

I wonder how the clutch will be. The clutch in my VW is known for being numb and difficult to use (even for people who have been driving stick their whole life).
