Ouch! You'll be back on the road soon enough. No challenge for a good body man. Sorry for the situation though.

I have had some. I know the value they first come up with is NOT set in stone. I had very similar damage on my 04 srt 10 and got 500$ after arguing for days when they wanted to give me 100$.. granted it had a cracked windshield and some other imperfections.

There is actually a formula of how the insurance companies determine it... year, condition of car etc. what it really boils down to is how much that damage is going to effect the re-sale of that car. In major cases attorneys who specialize in this can be hired

I live in Pennsylvania and I had some dumbass hit the back of my Camaro and I ask her insurance company about this and they told me that PA. is one of the states that you can't get money for this. I would definitely check into it...

Having worked in the auto insurance industry for 27 years, I's suggest that you start with reading the wording of your policy. Some States mandate that you receive payment for diminished value, some do not. Unfortunately I'm not familar with the ICBC contract, but the vast majority of Canadian Provinces do not have contract wording that would have your own insurer pay you anything for the potential for diminished value. With the government controlling the insurance product in your Province, it may be different. Finally, you may have the option of having the at-fault person's insurance policy pay you for diminished value under tort law. I suspect that the car that backed into you is also ICBC insured. I'd have to see your contract to be more helpful, but I hope that this at least gives you things to consider.
PM me with any specific questions that you may have and I'll help more if I can.

Probably the same stupid putz that pulled out in front of me on my way home from work.
I had to lock 'em up on the Yaris (my commuter car) to stop before I would have t-boned his driver's door. He gave me the look like I was in the wrong. Damn raisin shouldn't even have a license. Happened on Prospect Lake road, at the Munns rd. intersection. Silver Honda Civic?
ha ha, no chance it's the same clown, but there sure seems to be no shortage of them..
