Most of the older T/A's were basically Camaros with different sheet metal and badges.....

I like it. always liked the Firebirds better than the original Camaros. With Ponitac dead, however, not gonna happen.

I would buy a kit if they sold one that I could install myself.I like the look and I like the idea of my car looking different. My ss looks just the same as a 6 banger.Back in the day you knew a Z or iroc was coming. Now they all look the same.

Saw a convertible running around Daytona today. It looked ok in person but it's just not the same as having one roll off the assembly line.

ok... the Firebirds and Camros rolled down the same assembly lines for years and in fact share some of the same parts.. Not many but some. the frame was the largest shared part making it easier for production.
being that I own a 2nd Gen T/A they have held a sweet spot in my memory since the 1st day I say one. its like comparing apples to oranges guys... most Firebirds in the 1st and 2nd Gen had pontiac power plants but when the 3rd gens came about thats when GM became more corporate and the same power plants were used thru out all thier production models. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would take my 78 "King of the Hill" ( at the time back then,1978, it was the fastest american made car.) over many of the new designs thats coming out. Yes I have a Gen 5 camaro and probably would have bought a T/A if they had not axed Pontiac, but I do love my Camaro. They are brother sister cars and have been since the 60s and if they had not dropped Pontiac they would still be that way. Kevin Morgan has done a great job in his design to spark interest in the T/A group before the camaro was even in final production. I had seen his designs go from print to touch. and its because he wanted to prove to the the GM brass that people were still holding for the T/As. However the economy dropped out back in 08/09 and the GM brass dropped Pontiac.. Pontiac vs Chevrolet.. age old battle... Again Apple vs Orange. Does it really matter? to some yes.. to me NO... am I going to get upset over someones opinion?... Uh what were you saying? |
