Glad I'm not waiting on an order!!

For all of you waiting for GM to build your baby, I know why... I had to travel to Atlanta and at Avis, there are at least 75 Camaro's of every stripe! I really hate to see so many at a rental place for fear of plummeting resale! Good
luck to those of you who are waiting!!

What I mean is people who are paitently waiting for their baby to be built are being put behind fleet cars. GM needs to get the order cars out before it dumps all these cars in rental fleets!

Who said the rental car agencies did no place large pre-orders last year of Jan 1. I know here in Orlando about 3 months ago Avis received 80 new Camaros I am sure they waited longer for there Camaro then I did.

The reason why most people are waiting one a Camaro is because of Allocation they ordered from a dealership that does not have a lot of allocation for the Camaro thus the person waits. Scott Settlemire said months back if you order a Camaro make sure the dealership has allocation this is your best bet to get your Camaro in a timely matter.

Then they should allocate
more to dealers then and not dump them in rental fleets. Remember, rental companies don't pay retail. They do degrade resale values though.

Not that again.

I think you need to research the topic of allocation. As for "fleet" sales, GM's business is selling vehicles to customers, AVIS is one of their customers.

I know all about allocation, I was in the car business for 10 years so believe me, I understand. Rental companies do not pay the same for their cars as dealers, therefore, when a rental company sells that same car, they can sell it either at auction, back to the manufacturer as a "program car" or sell it to the public, all at a substanitally lower price than the average joe needs to sell his for, hence reducing resale value for all. But that's not what I'm talking about, I believe they should fill sold retail orders before they start dumping them into fleets. It's not an Impala where they NEED rental fleets to keep production humming. Just my .02

this topic was brought up many months ago. . .

And what it all came down to was business. .

Avis to GM:

If you can get us XXX amount of Camaro's now.. then we will purchase XXX Cobolts, XXX Traverse, etc, etc

It's a business move and GM needs to make money to pay everyone back... so don't get to upset... there's 5 camaro's sitting at my dealers lot right now.. all MSRP or under.
