This thread will help a little more - it gives you the criteria that causes the skip shift to kick in.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=skip+shift

The easiest way to avoid it is to wait until you are at 20 - 22 to shift to 2nd or 3rd. I don't see it as much as you do but the points that it hits do not make for a safe situation.

Bottomline this was done for a reason.

It keeps the car below the current goverment noise restrictions
It also keeps you as the customer from paying a Gas Guzzlers Tax

- Buy a Skip Shift Eliminator to completely do away with it.
- Get yor speed over 20 MPH or RPMS above 3000 before shifting.
- Trick that I have learned not sure why this works but if I bump my shifter to the left twice then it will also slide into 2nd Gear. (Maybe we should call this the Bump Shift Elimiator)

This is my story and I am sticking to it. Also this applies to the LS3 M6 of course.

Hope this helps

Leave it in first gear until the 1-4 light goes away. Skip shift eliminator is stupid.

I have to agree. If you buy a mans car, you have to drive it like a man.

Either hammer it more often (aka do what it's built to do, lol) or buy a skip shift eliminator.

Now I know that in the owner's manual it says this is a GM thing. But really? 10 times a day? I can be going from a stop into a turn. Or going from a stop onto a hill. Or even a stop onto a straightaway. It does not matter. To me, this seems a little too much. Is this normal? How do I get it to stop? For now I have to take my foot off the gas, almost get rear ended by the person behind me and then basically slam it into second and haul ass. I get so annoyed it isn't fun driving my car sometimes. It's actually more dangerous.

Any suggestions?
