HPE 700 Hennessey for Sale Question about new price

There is a 700 on ebay for sale right now. The seller lists the following as the purchase price new:

THE CHEVROLET INVOICE WAS $35,985.00
THE HENNESSEY INVOICE WAS $118,490.00
TOTAL COST OF THIS CAR WAS $154,475.00

From what I read on the internet is that the car new from Hennessey WITH the upgrades was about $120k and not 154k. Can someone confirm one way or the other?

I'll confirm your nuts if you are thinking of paying anywhere near 90k plus for that camaro. The current owner was also nuts for spending this much on this car.

The things it's got going for it is the ls9 supercharged engine which is 23k or so new. But you also have to figure they sold the stock ls3' so it's not really a 23k upgrade.

Other than that it has some nice mods but nothing special. If you buy this just know your paying 40k for the hennessey name.

You could get a brand new zl1 for 60k and have 30k left over and mod your way. I know guys that have zl1s that are putting down 700+ rwhp with only a few grand in mods.

The current owner is dreaming. That car won't sell north of 50-60k anytime soon.

Also, last it checked the hennessey and slp warranties are not transferable.

I agree with all you said. He paid too much and it's not worth the 90 he's asking. I offered $50k thru ebay and was instantly rejected. Thank you for your thoughts. Any others?

Hennessey is WAY overpriced for the mods and rate of returns on resale value there are ton of shops out there that are just as good or better that are a lot cheaper

I called and spoke with Chris at Hennessey and he advised that the $118k price tag included the price of the Camaro. Still $118 was a lot to pay. No one bought the car on ebay which was listed at $90k originally, and then lowered to $80k. Still a lot. Not sure Hennessey cars hold their value to this extent. I'm still going to try to negotiate a price on the HPE700.

Hennessey also suggested that I would be better off to buy a ZL1 and buy their HPE700 package for $16k and still be cheaper. He thought I'd have a better car too. He's probably right but there's something about an LS9 engine.

I wouldn't go higher than 55-60.

Even you have to think about when you have to sell it

I did lots of reading on Hennessey. I've read great stuff and rip off stuff too. Seems like they know how to build cars with the most HP, but way overcharge for what you get. They do have a warranty, which justifies a lot of the costs. Also, one can get the same from a local person for much, much less. My concerns were more about the value of a like new HPE700 with an LS9. I appreciate the comment that 55 to 60 is the max the car is worth.

And yes, I am concerned that I'll be stuck with a car that I can't sell. I've watched the high end car sales on Camaro 5 for about 6 months and most have to give them away to sell them.

I've got a max price of $55k for this car, although I doubt the seller will jump on it. Seem ok to you guys?

Something to look into. Yes Hennessy, slp and some others do offer warranties on their modded cars. I do not know about Hennessy but I do know that with slp the warranty is NOT TRANSFEARABLE from owner to owner. It only covers the original purchaser and even then the cr cannot be modded from what slp did.

So please check to make sure the warranty is transfearable if you are tying value to it.

What exactly does this 16k 700 package get you? There is a guy at my Sunday meet that's putting out 750 rwhp with a few grand worth of mods on his zl1. Basically has under pulley and headers and a good tune. Maybe a few others but not even a cam
