Welding requires patience and a steady hand. I have a fairly steady hand but lack in the patience department.

LOl, the older I get, the less steady the hands get...

Put a Camera in my hands, rock solid... anything else... and I'm like a bowl of jello on GM's vibrating table they use to test suspensions...

I can't believe you let my above reference go so easily... Breezed right past it didn't you...

OH no. I saw it. I was being nice since you are suffering in the heat. True story. lol

Oh, and you'd be much more GM steady with some Pedders supercars.

Bound and rebound baby.

Everyone is doing it.

I wanna bound and rebound....

But I can't out here....

So, I slam Chris inhere and you don't even jump on it.... I appreciate the consideration for the heat, but we can't be all nice... Somone will start looking for the real PQ and SSE 4 2SS...

I thought about that after I posted it, and thought, that isn't too far off the mark...

I've done what were supposed to be 10/10 drops, one of which was more like 40/50... that one hurt, and I've swam and been picked out of water under a helicopter... So yeah, you're right, it isn't too far off the mark...

I've never done that under them giants you flew in though... We were working with a 412 and a EC135 or 145, can't remmember which... but yuo still can't see anything without goggles, and it's hard to swim upstream with hurricane force winds bucking you...

One time I actually took a big breath and dropped under the surface and swam... came up almost under the rotor hub...

I got a thumbs up for that one... and a butt chewing...

10/10's can be pretty gentle if you hit the water right.

but even then I've knocked the wind out of my self with by leaning just a little to far left. Feels like falling on wet concrete...

Yeah, going under the surface makes the hoist operator pretty nervous... I remember I LIT UP one of my students for the same thing... WTF were you thinking. WTF Makes you think I can see you when you are under all that rotor wash!!!! The pilots said they could hear every word I said off ICS... LOL

The big question is... have you ever shocked yourself on the hook???

No Thank Goodness... But I've felt tingly from the hook entering the water right next to me...

The roughly 40/50 I was involved in caused a ruptured ear drum... quite a bit of dizziness, quite a bit of pain, and a severe ass chewing of the "spotter."

He had on the head set and was listening to the pilot... Texas DPS... and the pilot relayed to him the numbers, and to pre.... off we went... as we were properly watching him and his hands came up and out... F$%&er....I didn't realize the water was so shallow... or was made of concrete... I bet I didn't penetrate two feet into the water... feet hit, and I looked like a pole that just slammed over sideways into the water... as did my co-jumper....

As I was falling, NOt a drop anymore, but falling, I had a momentary thought that this was going to hurt... and it did.... Lost a strap off one fin, lost my mask... and it probably took me a week to clean the poop out of the wetsuit..

The biggest hit I took was 70/0 which I think is better 40/50 LMAO... damn you probably skipped at least twice with gear flying everywhere... we call those rescue swimmer yard sales...

Oh my dumb ass got hit 3 times by the hook... Not 3 times in my 2k hours of flying... Not 3 times in a month... Three times in a single hoist...

Made my jump, nice and clean. feeling good.. Helo comes back around to pick us up.. Pulls into a hover hooks starts coming down... reached for the hook a little too early.. BAM!

Let the hook hit the water to ground it... the hoist operator payed out a little too much cable, so I gave him the signal to raise hoist... I'm not paying attention and the hook starts to clear the surface and try to grab it before it does... BAM!!

..... Not fast enough

So what does my dumb ass do..... Thinking there can't be any charge left in it after two hits and being grounded twice...

I reach for it AGAIN!!!! right above the surface...

BAM!!!!

I took hell for that for weeks.

You needed a ground fault circuit breaker... though getting rid of that hook as fast as you probably did would serve the same purpose...

I'm telling you ... there is so much static electricity in an H-60 that hook charges Instantly...
