I'm hoping it's because they are doing a software update putting the hp numbers at 601.

Very Bad News for us at 4B00 !!!!!
I got a call from my dealer today who read me a letter/notice they received from GM today. It said "the ZL 1 is on INDEFINITE HOLD and will not ship in the immediate future! I would like to hear if any of you got the same call? and then, I think we would all like to understand what the nature of the issue is.....

Catch me if you can

Ever think that they may have found an issue that needs to be fixed prior to us getting the cars?
I'm still baffled on why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch over this. It's not like the cars are going any where.

Nothing new people, they just want to make sure the cars are the best they can be. I'd be anxious too but they will come, even if there is some issue.

What it said was: All Camaro ZL1 models produced to date are currently being held by General Motors for a quality assessment. At this moment, the duration of the hold is undetermined, and may last a few more weeks. As soon as the hold is cleared, a note will be sent to all dealers to advise that 2012 Camaro ZL1 shipments are underway.

If I was waiting on one I would much rather have it taken care at the factory than a dealer.

Correct.... NOT "indefinite"............ but... since it's a late model year entry and it's on hold = "somewhat limited"
Edit: Take as long as you want GM!! Whatever you deem best is terrific! Excellent. Excellent! Last edited by htron50; 03-02-2012 at 08:51 PM. |

Just as they all were back when the Camaro was re-released.

Ladies and Gentlemen.......when we started production of the 1998 F-car - we held them for nearly 6 weeks - perhaps 7 -
There were a couple of small issues that we were not happy with. This is nothing new in the industry. What IS new: Sites like this where we give you more information than you've ever had...........not all the information you want, but more than you've ever had.......... Keep this in mind: You've already heard Al and various members of the team say that over 1/3 of the car has been re-engineered - that means that over 1/3 of the car has 'unique' part numbers. That's a lot of parts. That's a lot of suppliers. In the past you would have not really known when we started building new models - and you would not have been able to get pics of them sitting in shipping lots........ See-- that's one of the 'down-sides' of the internet........ Yes - we (that's you and me) want to get behind the wheel of a new ZL1 - we can 'taste' it because we want it so bad......... ......but you see -- the 'easy' thing to do is to ship cars and say "oh the heck with the customer" - THAT'S what gets you (as a manufacturer) into trouble real quick. And we refuse to do that. So - I'm asking you to be patient. It will be worth the wait. (.....wow.....this may be word-for-word from mid-year 2009 - when we started building 5th gens!)
