**Help! Dash applique paint code! HELP!**
Can anyone help out by finding out what the paint code is for the dash applique? I believe it is called graphite silver. I'd like to make sure and then find out the code along with who sells it, where I can get it, etc.
This is a must for those (like me) who don't do the ABL installation properly!!! Thanks in advance to everyone who can help out! Tag |

man, I must have gone through 20 shades of silver/gray today. I will only be able to match it up once I get the code...since you really can't tell till it dries.

That sucks TAG I know how you feel I scrached my door panel in the upper corner waiting for some IOM spray to fix it.

yep. Well...I fixed the left side and it looks perfect...maybe too thick. But, we'll see how it turns out once I turn on the lights. Now...off to the right side!

I don't have the original code, but I found a paint I think is 95+ % accurate. I used it to repaint the smaller trim that I Fubared, and you can NOT tell that it has been repainted. One thing though, I think the paint on the trim is water based, because when I tried to just do a touch up, the original paint lifted. I had to strip the whole piece, and repaint completely..... One tip, if you are going to repaint the whole trim, I strongly suggest you start with a clear coat, and then the color ( if you don't, the paint will look uneven ).
Here's a pic of the paint can..... Last edited by camarorick; 11-28-2010 at 02:40 PM. |

That's EXACTLY the same paint can that I almost purchased from Auto Zone yesterday!!!
I've got someone trying to get me the paint code and company that makes the paint. If that works, we'll be set. Now, did you have to repaint the entire piece?...or just touch up? Because if you repainted the entire piece, you'd never know the difference. If you just repainted a small portion, you might be able to tell. But yeah...I saw that paint too and was like....holy crap...this is almost a perfect match! |

You couldn't reuse that double sided tape stuff that came on it to adhere the clear snap piece to the applicque?

Oh no, and that stuff is a nightmare to remove I used a one sided blade, and CAREFULLY cut between the the trim, and the snap piece. Once the pieces were separated, I used a rigid flat piece of plastic and went to work removing the remnants ( you should have seen the blisters on my hands ) I then purchased some automotive exterior trim double faced tape ( basically the same stuff ), and used that for reapplication.

Ahhh...got it. Worst case scenario, I'll do the same. That paint is almost a perfect match.
I got the driver side done perfectly....might add a millimeter of paint. And now I'm working on doing the passenger side. It's coming along MUCH better. NOW THAT I TOOK MY TIME>>> Working on paint code still and where I can get some. Hopefully we can come up with something soon. |

There is a part number on the back of the trim pieces. You've got to remove them to see it but you should be able to order it through your dealer. There is a pic of the code in the thread on EL wire ABL install
