To e85 or not to e85 for street application.

Contemplating if spending 1500-2000$ is worth it to do e85, only to gain an avg of 30-50 hp/trq (maybe more) on street application. I know it has the benefits......BUT is it worth it dollar per HP.

A lot more than 30-50 to be gained.

If E85 is available around you, for sure give yourself the option.

Depends on what mods you have and how much your engine will handle. If you're at say 700WHP FI adding E85 you could add more than 50hp but if SBE.. well..... What are the ultimate plans. Wouldn't be worth it to me even if it was available until I forge the bottom end, then I would do it IF I had it around me because the engine could take the power.

How much do you pay for a cam job? How about some name brand headers? Seems to me that the cost to allow for the use of E85 is right in line with the typical mods, and you stand to reap higher gains.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I personally think more important than the HP gains is the reduced likelihood of pre-detonation. If probably tuned you are providing the engine a little bit more protection.

If it's readily available in your area, then yes it's worth it in my opinion. It's usually good for a least 50hp or so.

How are you coming up with that total cost? If you're still shooting for 750-800whp on 93, you're still going to need an Aux pump of some sort. $1000.

If you talk with some of the vendors here you might find an AGP dual pump kit isn't that much more... and will support 1000 on E.

I wouldnt let 93 octane come near my car anymore. I can't.

I do, every time I drive it. It's no big deal.

Although looking to do a 50/50 mix some time this year to try

Is it true with the e85 kit and a tune you can switch as needed between e85 and 93? Feel like in the winter I would use 93 since it’s my daily driver.

I live in the NW burbs of Chicago. E85 everywhere... What the % is, I have yet to find out.

With my FBO setup right now, I’m around 500. I’m getting a centri added on, which should put me around the 700 range (maybe), and with e85 maybe more. Ultimate plans.... endless. Lol. I thought I was happy with 500, but now it feels slow.

I got my FBO setup with headers/CAI for 2500$ built and tuned. But all that netted me 120rwhp

Just FBO @ around 500. Adding a centri in a week or 2.

Yes. Aux pump, flex fuel, Dyno tune for e85, labor for aux setup around 1600-1600$.

All in all with Centri, Wideband/boost gauge, flex fuel sensor, aux pump, 127# injectors, wires, plugs, labor, tune... 10,100$

With out e85, and aux fuel, flex sensor... around 8500$/8600$
