Few minor fixes needed to my 81' Camaro z28..
First off, it's my first car. My Dad and I are almost finished with it, everything is pretty much all original and in great condition, completely restored.
Only a few issues though. As some of you may know, on the 81' z28 (maybe on other year models, not sure..), the fuse box is right there above the clutch. The lights work and all, then sometimes they stop working and we find a wire disconnected in the area of the clutch, easy to fix but not exactly safe for night time. I was wondering if there were any fuse box covers or anything like that for a 81' camaro z28, or if we could somehow fashion one. Last thing, obviously on any older car the gear shifter is going to be a bit rusty, and sometimes things are unavoidable. But I would like to try and fix the problem to the best for my own safety, and the safety of my car. The gear shifter seems to get stuck in 3 and reverse gears sometimes, what do we need to do to fix this? A new linkage system? Please provide links for any parts you think would help, as I can't find anything on the Internet haha. But thanks for your time if you have any form of answer. |

Have you adjusted the shifter? Here's a link to a forum that explains it.

I thought the factory unit was also a Hurst. Get the car on ramps or a lift and see if the shifter has a small hole, about the size of a 1/4' drill bit. If you can't slide something like that in the hole in the shifter body easily with the car in neutral, it needs adjusted. It's worth checking.
