Hello!

1,000 Miles!! My thoughts so far!
Hard to believe I know but yeah, I passed 1,000 miles the other day! I’ve not really shared my experience or my thoughts on the Camaro yet since I’ve owned her so thought I’d share some info, some thoughts and my overall impression. 2SS/RS w/M6.
Exterior: I have SIM with the dealer installed black stripes. The color is really amazing and has a great deal of metallic in it. During the dusk hours the paint is beautiful, just near perfect! Bright sun light it’s really nice too but not near what it is at dusk. Like the fact I don’t have to wash it every day too...although I do find myself doing that still! LOL! Fit and finish on the exterior is great. Front fascia lines up with the fenders, the rear diffuser lines up with the back bumper, deck lid, doors, hood everything lines up very, very nice. Thanks to the guys in Oshawa for taking your time on this…much, much appreciated! Stripes, while they are a flat black, look great against the SIM and glad I chose them! The styling is to die for! The look of the car just says “I’m different than anything you’ve ever seen” and I love that! Overall, the exterior is everything I could have wanted and then some. Love the RS options with the halos and the roof ditch molding painted…a must have with this color! The tail lights are noticeable darker too, at least for me (saw a 2LT without RS and they were much “”redder”). These are a dark red and look fantastic! Interior: I love everything about it! The driver’s seat can adjust to just about anything you want! Wish the passenger seat was power as well though…think they should have included that! Great leather, very good material! The stitching looks fantastic. Very comfortable too. I have tons of headroom too (I’m 6’). No sunroof though so can’t answer that one. I don’t dislike anything on the interior but much like other cars I’ve drove, with the tilt all the way down, you’ll not see the top of the gauges for speed and rpms. The DIC will display mphs for you but watch those rpms. The view from the sides to the rear is different and while IMO not restrictive, it will take a little getting used to if you’ve been driving a large sedan or truck. Yes it’s small out the back but not near what I had expected…actually very far off from what I was expecting! Over the shoulder looks are gone though so adjust your mirrors and watch them! The front view is all hood! I’ve not noticed the front mirror being a problem as noted in another thread either…but I’ve drove sports cars (smaller cars, etc) before so maybe I’m just use to it? Love the look out the front though…huge plus for me as I enjoy seeing the hood! Fit and finish on the inside is the same as the exterior…very nice! Love the look of the door panels with the silver inserts too and even the ambient lighting is pretty cool. Bluetooth is awesome with my Blackberry and I’ve downloaded all my numbers and works just as advertised! The USB port works great for me as well…4 gig stick. Rear seat is manageable…but not for tall folks! My son is almost 6’ and his head does touch the roof when in the back seat. But, we’ve gotten all of us in there, wife and two kids and it was fine. Even for me as the driver…didn’t move the seat but maybe an inch forward. Tilt and telescoping wheel is awesome! Gauges at night are awesome! Steering wheel buttons are set rather deep but not been a problem for me. Performance: While I’ve not “romped” on her at all I have played some. I’ve not had a V8 for many, many years and even then, not this much HP. The power is there whenever you want it! You can (and I have) spin this thing around without much effort! I’ve not tried the competitive mode yet but have had traction control off a couple times and she’ll light up the tires with ease! I’ve ran her past 5k rpms only a few times so not sure of the total power yet as I’m working my way to 1500 miles to really see what is there. No ticks or noises from the engine or anywhere that I can tell. I do have a whine from the AC unit while shifting from 1-2-3 though. Dealer says it’s fine…so I guess it’s fine? Great handling as well as great braking. I’ve never felt as though the body was rolling or I needed more room to stop. I have the weights on my calipers too but I do get a squeak out of my brakes from time to time right before I stop. 6-speed is very nice, very smooth and enjoy driving it! Clutch is light to me but feels very nice. The skip shift has activated a few times but I just keep it in first and it goes away. Most time I shift around 2krpms though and hasn’t been a problem really. OVERALL: Very satisfied! I’d rate it an A+ to be honest on owner satisfaction. I’d give a A- on features, functions and additional equipment. Needs a power passenger seat, hate the look of the canisters out the back for the mufflers, stripes should have went over the rear spoiler, too quiet of an exhaust (for a Camaro!) and the V6 should have had a flat hood (yeah I know that’s not my car but think the difference should have been that instead of the mail slot). Interior material while nice, should have been a bit nicer (not complaining). I’ve changed my oil already too, had the battery cable fixed as well. Dealer was very good to me throughout the ordering process as well as service since delivery and everyone that sees the car loves it! Much like you’ve read on here, you can’t go anywhere without talking about the car. Don’t mind it really and I just tell folks go to your local Chevy dealer and check it out! That’s about it I guess…oh yeah, her name is Samantha! Last edited by Legend; 05-28-2009 at 05:12 PM. |

The ac compressor breaks in too. Belt etc. It's cycles to full hot and cooling that contribute to the whole car break in process. If there tech said it's normal probably is normal sound. You can always post a sound or vid clip of the noise for others to input.

Great write-up! I AM LEGEND let me have a look at Samantha a couple weeks ago and she is truley beautiful. I had the pleasure of seeing several other colors in person before this, and I have to say while I was impressed with the other colors, the SIM just takes my breath away. My 2SS SIM is on the way and can't wait to take her out!
See ya on the streets SOON I AM LEGEND!

Don't give up, It has to get use to your voice and it will work perfectly fine (even with the window down). I had the same problem with my Acura TL voice command technology for about 2 weeks and now she finishes my commands for me |

Mentioned a lower hood scoop(regardless V6 or V8)..visibility concern. The distinguishing characteristics of the two are prominently visible. Besides, GM needs to sell to all venues of customers, if they want to market this car a successful one(not just for enthusiasts/collectors alike).
