Under Drive pulley and forced induction.

If i choose to go forced induction later will the under drive pulley need to come off for the blower? I am on the fence if I want to get a pulley when I do my cam swap.

Its only 4 horsepower at the best, is it worth it? My ac is too important, so is cooling and battery. And not overheating my power steering.

Yes it will need to come off. You'll spin the supercharger slot slower with the ud pulley. Unless you put a smaller top pulley too. But the smaller the top pulley is, more likely for the belt to slip.

I have also read where the under drive pulley is hard on timing chains but do not know if that is true or not.

If you are going to go with a blower down the road a underdrive pulley is a waste of time. You can't run them with a blower so you would have to remove it for the supercharger install. Save your cash for the blower, what system are you thinking about?

FWIW, during my cam swap, I had Mike install one (best time to do it). I do mostly in-town driving with my car and I’ve not seen any ill effects.

Oh by the way, I made sure the pulley was 304L stainless.....

Typically with a blower a customer will buy a overdrive pulley. That way you can overdrive the blower without shrinking the blower pulley & causing potential belt slip.

We usually have 10% overdrive pulleys for boost guys wanting more boost in stock.
