Help!! Curb bit my car!! Where do I get it fixed
So today, I am going to a work meeting and pulling in to a &*%$# parking garage. Thought I cleared it and then I here the grind. I just stopped crying about 30 minutes ago(not literally)! I have about a 6 inch scrape on the lip my painted aluminum wheel! Anybody know a good place in Oklahoma that can fix it? I live in th OKC metro area.

don't worry your not the only one that got curb rash... I've scratched 3 of my polished aluminum rims (on the outer lip), and only on one of them i know what i did.. the others must of been pot holes or something.. anyways i was so upset and got them repaired at this place http://www.unionrim.com/ they did a pretty good job, can barely tell they were ever scared. That's if your in the Toronto area... it costed me $125/rim

Clean the area with rubbing alcohol, Super glue the divots (fill in the holes), sand lightly start with 800 and work your way up to 1500 sand paper. around the area till smooth (minimize removing the original paint), use PaintScratch Inv #335996, 2010 Camaro, Midnight Silver M C wheel WA263M paint and clear coat it using their product. Use automotive painters tape to block the area out as small as possible when painting. Sand the clear lightly around 2500 paper to smooth it out after a few days.....will look better than that for sure....oh and wet sand when you sand......the key is not to mess with the paint that's left over too much.....

DUDE! it saves you money and it's not very noticeable. You can buy your 2K per rim wheels later.......I would suggest trying it on a small part of it first to get the trial and error out of the way ( you will learn lessons as you go along on the small portion.) it really looks good once it's done...but if you do it all at . one time it either really sucks or your the man! Do a little bit and check your mistakes....really not many with this job.....really... I should post pics I have then buried someplace....

prices are high: rattle can paint silver around $24.95 rattle can paint clear around $12.95 shipping $48.95 800 sand paper around $4 auto store 1500 sand paper around $4 auto store 2500 sand paper around $4 auto store roll of auto paint tape around $4 auto store super glue 3 Home Depot do the math...... around $65.85 and you have supplies for the next drinkin bing.... and it's on the edge...it doesn't show as much......if you did that in the middle then good luck!!!!!!! I've entered my car in more than on competition and it wasn't even noticed although I didn't drive on the curb for a day like you did.....and I got best in show so I'm proof that (you can do it!) and save some pocket change...hope this helps you...the initial cost is hard to swallow but your gonna use the sand paper for more things...and the clear is clear use it on modds....come to think of it use the original paint on small mods too! Paint the plugs that hold up your hood heat shield silver...unless your car won't look good with your cars base color which I don't know......PM if you need any help! I'll be more than happy to help a camaro Brethren. Last edited by wrbear; 06-18-2011 at 07:58 AM. |
