I am not saying that he isn't out of his mind, I just don't see him as having any reason to lie. He knew I was not buying a car from his dealership and that I already had my Camaro on order elsewhere. We were simply discussing this because they are the only dealership in AZ that has one on the lot to look at.
If I were you I would stay as far away from that dealer as possible.

Well you get what you pay for. Who better to make performance parts for the car than the people who made the car?

GMs prices for standard accessories, such as an exhaust, is straight up robbery.

The dealer is an idiot and you need to stop listening anyone but the folks on this board.

* The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302C) is a federal law which regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty.

If you think that GMPP are better than others then you are out of your mind. They are mediocre at best.

You might want to look over that post that shows who made each part of the Camaro...since Chevy mostly just did the assembly.

I would point out that your dealer is an idiot, but in this case it's more accurate to simply say that your dealer is a lying thief.

Btw can anyone else confirm that GM is voiding warranty on the whole car if exhaust is changed?
In my experience, as three of my best friends are GM Master Techs at our dealership and one is the Service Dept. Manger, when you install any type of accessory or modification the warranty is not automatically voided. It's just dpends on who did the mod and how it affected the car. It's basically done on a case by case basis. Of course if your service dept manager is an ass he can make it hard for you to get warranty repairs done. Most dealers will go to bat for you.

Here's an example: if a guy puts 24 inch wheels on (any given vehicle) that was not intended to have 24 inch wheels and the vehicle developes a problem with the front hubs because of the wheels, they would not be covered under the warranty. BUT if a guy put a Corsa Exhaust on a vehicle and it developed a problem with the front hubs, they would be covered because the exhaust had nothing to do with the hub going bad. Pretty simple, huh?!

If you are in doubt, talk to the guy who handles all warranty issues at your dealership... Your GM Service Manager, he should be able to answer all of your questions. If not, get me his name and I'll have my cousin Vinny go talk to him! Most of these guys are pretty much car nuts and love to talk about stuff like that. Plus if you get to know them they'll be more likely to help you out in a pinch.

BTW when you purchase Genuine GM Accessories at the time you purchase your car, they are covered under your 3 yr 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty!!!!
