That means some tough price competition for Chevrolet. First Mustang, now Challenger. GM just cannot afford Camaro being much more expensive than these two.
And damn that's good |

I would not have thought a 250hp engine could get that thing to even move.

I don't think the V6 Camaro has to worry.
I simply cannot imagine a V6 Camaro coming in above 23,000. So that's about 1,000 dollar difference, BUT;
We're getting at least 26mpg hwy out of a 300hp engine. They have 25 mpg/ 250hp. And it will have a choice of 6speed auto or manual on all models. They're touting a 4-speed auto. Plus all the tech and standard features Scott keeps telling us the car is filled with... I still think the Camaro's styling will appeal to a much broader consumer-base than the Challenger, too. |

^UM....Before anyone types in here, I STRONGLY suggest folks read and reread the pricing on these models!
NOW>>>Who was it that kept worrying that the Camaro's would be overpriced!!! If Dodge has prices this low....guess what. GM MUST compete. Quit worrying...................... Base: Quote:

There isn't any chance now that the base V8 Camaro will be over 30k now. It will slot someplace between Ford and Dodge ~$28 500. And yes, it should keep pace with the SRT8 Challenger, if not beat it.

Keep in mind the Challenger is what 4,200lbs so the V-8 Camaro should beat the SRT unless it's fat too.

My biggest concern is between the R/T and SRT8 models. The SRT is $10,000 more than the R/T! Their power outputs are way too similar for a $10,000 difference (R/T:370hp, 398 lb ft; SRT8:425hp, 420 lb ft).

2009 Challenger to start @ $21,995... what does this mean for the Camaro?
Just saw this article on Autoblog about the Challenger's pricing. Apparently Chrystler confirmed the base model will be $21,995, the RT will be $29,995 and the SRT will come in at $39,995. That's pretty much the pricing line-up that most of us have been expecting for the Camaro, but do you think GM will try to undercut this, charge more, or just stay neck and neck? Personally I think these prices are an anolog for what Lutz called "premium pricing" a few months back and are accurate indicators of we should expect to pay.

Its an odd year, the SRT is in the process of getting a 6.4 hemi (rumored). That said the R/T is one hell of a car at 370hp for under 30k.

can anybody justify paying 10000 more for only 55 more horsepower???
and wheels, and brakes.... i'd rather take an r/t and put in a 5000 supercharger... and 2000 22's and i can put custom brembro's for 3000 and it will be over 550 hp... all of course after warrenty... but for 30 k... and almost 400 hp... camaro and chally and g8... no other country can match bang for buck anymore.... america has finally figured out power and effiency... at a decent price... my dad is mopar guy... i am clearly not... my 'maro will smoke his viper... my 350z-tt did track and drag

It will be SO nice when we have Camaro pricing along with options.
The Challengers pricing doesn't sound too bad at all. Now add in a Sunroof, Upgraded Sound System and a GFX/Spoiler package and I'd be content. |
