Corvette C7 vs Camaro ZL-1 ? any thoughts ?
Alright guys,
So please don't flame me if this questions has already been posted but I just wanted to know what is gonna be faster! The C7 Stingray or the Zl-1 ? In a Drag and around the track! C7 is pretty light compared to Zl-1 so I guess 450 Hp might be enough to have it compete with the Zl-1 but then again why would Gm make the Base Corvette faster or Equal to the top tier Camaro! What do you all think ? |

I think there really isn't like a base class corvette it's the top of Chevys production preformance line. If its faster than it is and if not either way we have very fast cars with a Bowie on them, but there still different there is a reason why the c7 has 2 seats

^^ good thought, I am actually thinking about what to get!
I am not sure of what the C7's base price will be, I agree its in a differnet class then a Camaro but not by alot. I was at the Challenger forum the other day and was having the same disucssing and it turned out pretty interesting, though I love challengers but too bad they have very little power. HellCat challenger is coming out soon, a 6.2L supercharged, lets see how much HP it produces! I am sure the current Challenger Srt8 vs a C7 Stingray would be a C7's win for sure cuz of the power to weight ratio! About Camaro's I can't say much, it will surely be quicker then the SS but where it stands with a Zl-1 is a question to be asked! How much is the Zl-1 base price ? |

Stock base C6's have run in the high 11s in the quarter mile. The fastest stock ZL1 is like 11.7 maybe? The C7 may be around that range for most people, with low 11 sec hero runs

I think the base C7 will be faster or at minimum just as fast as a Zl1. should lap better but we will see.
The ZL1 I think will mod cheaper and have more potential $ for $ than a c7. once the stingray has been out for a wile and the aftermaket spools up though it might become as mod friendly. It will have 100% less back seat space though.

heard the base model c7 will have a 5.3 with less than 400 hp maybe the ZL1 can keep up with that :o

Is the Stingray going to have Magnetic Ride Control?

From the C7 page on chevy.com
" The characteristics of available Magnetic Selective Ride Control™." Dont forget that the ZL1 is turning in times better than the current Z06.

C7 Z51 will likely perform in the range between the current C6 Grand Sport and Z06. While on paper it will be close to ZL1 performance in reality it's likely the C7 will trump it and be easier to drive at higher levels.
However, Comparing the newest and best of the Vette against a current generation Camaro on perforformance alone isn't a fair fight. LT1 numbers are still estimates. Expect final numbers to be higher. Power to weight has already been discussed. As has been said you can't go wrong with either. You have to determine if you want ultimate performance for 2 or 4 people.

Two completely different cars. Corvette is a sports car. Zl1 is a muscle car. Porsche's and Corvette's are what our wife's and/or girl friends drive. I like muscle cars, although I might want to still my wife's C7 every now and then when she gets it

try to do a power to weight ratio calculation and I think the corvette always has less drivetrain loss compared to other cars, not 100% sure why since I havent looked into it. Then there is the aerodynamic advantage of the Corvette as well.
