My First Drag Racing experiance

My first drag race ever in my life, I ran a 13.9 at 104mph the blue camaro was awesome fast forward to 1:00 to actually watch the race my wife got carried away

I was so nervous when it was finally my turned I was taking deep breaths trying to calm down, I was so afraid i was gonna stall or hit the wall or break an axle...then when I finished I was yelling and shaking my fists in the air, and my left leg was shaking on the clutch from the adrenaline rush, it was so awesome

Yea I freaked a little once I got to the line the first time, I was like thats a long stretch to screw up on LOL. But I just gunned it and got that awesome rush. 3 runs later, I had my best run of the day technique and time wise and got a 14.7 secs

Now if it were autocross, I wouldn't have been worried, never gone on a strip before.

It was my first time also, I didn't really know what I was doing but it was fun. My best time was 14.3 with an automatic. I did speak to some people Sunday morning and they informed me of a few tricks.
1) Punch the car when the light hits the last yellow light before green.
2) with the automatic, but the car in competitive mode and in manual; however, you can let the car do the shifting for the best time.

They said it would easily taken about at least a 1/2 second off the time. What do you all think?

It was a great time!!!

Yea, I wish I would have knew that Saturday because I have a V8 with a tune and CAI and was expecting to get at least in the 13 second range. Well I will just keep on practicing and get better

So, as I understand it, when you put it in Manual mode, you don't have to shift using the paddles, the tranny will just shift for you at the optimum shift points, is that correct?

You are correct, just put it in M and let the computer shift. It can do it better than any of us...

Yessir.......I am going to try revving the car @ 2500 rpms while holding the brake before I take off next time at the strip.

Being chicken myself to go on the strip, I was amazed at how many of you did on the track with both stock and modified Camaros.

And it seem 99.9999% kept it to just the track, which was GREAT because just about everywhere I went in Valdosta the local's can't wait to see CamaroFest back next year!!!

First Racing Experience...

Posted a 14.22, 14.17, and 13.86. I missed on some shifts and had some slow starts. It was fun enough that I may actually go for some mods to my factory stock engine.

Also ran a Hennessey Supercharged Automatic 12.63 and 12.53. Who was in car #157??? He posted a 10.79 next to my 12.53.

Video of my first race ever - 14.22

It was my first time at a track. My best was a 13.3.

I kept experimenting and on my 5th try I gave it so much gas while holding at the startline the rearend started spinning before the tree started to go. When the last yellow light lit I was already spinning so much that I sat there spinning once I released the brake and posted my worse time of the day (14.5). It was sure fun though!

it was he first time for me also , i came to run after the drive from the hotel in the afternoon with a hot car and a full tank of gas and ran three times down the track

the first two times i had traction control on and ran 13.6 @ 111mph and 13.56 @ 109 mph.

the third time i turned off the traction control and wheel hopped the shit out of it and missed third gear, ran a 14.0 @ 102 mph

I had a blast out there, but just as little concerned i have now have some vibrations while accelerating at 75 mph after my last run, drove home and it runs fine except under hard acceleration where there is some vibrations
