Isn't Amanda's car a ZL1 with 285/35's up front? Way more front grip than anything you can reasonable fit under the front of any older car, so the car will be even more likely to swing the tail back and forth around its stuck-down front end.

I've seen that video before, I'd want to know a lot more before I'd even start to point fingers at running radials up front and slicks in back. I see folks do it at the track all the time. I have done it too with past cars.

So that vid, is that an arm drop deal on a runway or street?

Other potential factors:

-Car wasn't hooking early on, why
-Stick or auto?
-Is that a road or runway? How hot was it?

We ran a low 7 second class car in a 1/2 mile event and pulled 60% of the power out of it to get it down the runway. The car would lose traction going over high and low spots on the runway that you'd never have on a drag strip.

Lots of reasons why that could have happened.

On your car it's not a big deal. You're right, it's slow. 130+ mph it starts to get sketchy.

Most of the gen v's are fine with a dr on the back to begin with. I'm going back to one.

I've gone 145mph with a YSI in the past with radials up front and slicks out back.

Those who have run slicks before know a car handles a lot different with slicks in the back aired down to 12 psi.

4200 lb car? Big difference than a 3k lb f body.

her car is a auto. it runs 10.5 consistantly with 10.4x fastest pass so far. its was a runway. ya the armdrops . it was hot as hell out that day probably close to 100. usally hit speeds of mid 90's in my car. ya she lost traction early but , that setup when u get sideways causes problems . to much bite. but the track is bumpy as hell and thats what broke it loose i think. but it was also her first pass on that tire setup.

OP back to your question back in March I ran my best 10.87. ON stock wheels in front and 18x11 with M/T in rear with 3.45 gears. Temp in the low 60s high 50s. Last month in the same temp ran a 10.57. With 17" all 4 corner skinny and slicks also a 3.91 rear gear. How much was gear or wheels I don't know between the two I cut .30th off my time

..Bumpy runway
..First time on those tires
..100F out

All of the above plus the runway getting greasy from the heat caused that problem. You could see her car kick out at least once, that would or should never happen on a real drag strip.

Our experience with running on a runway is that they were nowhere near as smooth as a track, and the car lost traction several times just from the bumps.

Hope she came back from that accidents suck.

okay so heres a question...what are people running for wheels up front for skinny tires as opposed to the obvious Weld and Bogarts? is there a cheaper option out there?
