dropped mine off today for new top, and new waterbag (after a month long fight for the 100 dollar waterbag...). an "engineer" will be there tomorrow to start the top replacement. fingers crossed! this is their last chance with this lemon. it goes back to the body shop after the top is completed for attempt #2 for the body shop to fix the quarter panel they f-ed up the paint on...

and the saga continues...

Chevy Customer Service folks that are on this site, what are you doing to help us and GM get this problem solved if anything. Are you passing this on to someone who can do anything or are you there just to try and appease us. I think we who have problems deserve GM to be contacting us in person or through our local dealerships to get these problems resolved. I do not want to be bs-ed I just want my car fixed properly and correctly......................................... ..................Tell us what your are doing.......

What I don't get is they kept selling cars in 2012 with an inherent defect in them. Then send out the TSB letter to a grouping of VIN numbers that might be affected. How about doing a voluntary recall on all of them and being inspected by the dealerships then fixing as needed.

Just sent Tricia Ann a message on Facebook asking her the question if our problems are being passed up the chain of command or are the service reps just directing us to the dealerships. If I get an answer I will post it up.

Need to know for those in the St. Louis area, was told they want to send my car to a dealer who has done tops in St. Louis. Any idea from anyone in St. Louis who this is and did they do your car, did you have your car done, what was the outcome.

Well, I gave up on the original dealer, Spitzer Chevrolet Northfield Ohio who basically whined about Chevy paying them $400 some and that they had to pay something like $1400 to their "installer". Suggested they could have the guy come back to their dealership and look at it, and then he would drive it another 50+ round trip and keep it for who knows how long. They had the car for a week at this little hole in the wall shop in Akron (Custom Trim) and returned it with the problems, and 1/4 tank of premium gas less and a small stone chip on the windshield, but were very gracious in getting me a Chevy Aveo rental car from Enterprise during that week that I had to refill gas in but thought nothing about reimbursing me for the gas they burned in my car.

Opened a ticket with customer support and spoke to two ladies I assume in the Philippines based on their accent who would / could not grasp the reasoning for my complaint, just repeating back what I had said prefixed with "If I understand correctly, you are saying....". And after each call, they needed 1-2 days to get back to me. Typical offshore BS.

Requested them to find me a dealer who could do the work internally with Chevy trained installers vs. some sub contractor who never saw this stuff before and were working off an install sheet of instructions. They told me no dealer does this work in house and they all use subs. I asked what their requirements were to certify/train the subs on how to install Chevy tops and they admitted there were none.

Inquired both at the dealer and to customer support about having a human being come out (engineer, whomever) to talk to me and look at my problem and they both said not possible.

Finally they agreed to move my warranty work to another dealer, Tim Lally Chevrolet in Bedford Oh who uses a different top sub much closer. I don't know their track record in installing the new version. But first they setup an appointment for me to take the car to their Body shop manager to have him look and accept the transfer..... that will be this Saturday, then I need to schedule the actual appointment to get work done, assuming they want to do the job it sounds like. Such BS.

Spitzer never did deliver the printed instructions for the top install, does anyone have a pdf copy they could share? I think that would help everyone here having that problem.

Did I understand an earlier comment that this "second gen" top is no longer offered?

Dropped off my 'vert today for the new top to be installed. I checked out the new fabric and the bag of brackets and hardware. I took a pic of the front cover of the Service Instructions that were in the bag, but I didnt open the sealed bag. I was afraid one of the parts might get lost. You can see the June 27, 2012 date in red. Also if you look closely you can see the words at the top of the second sheet through the first sheet "Retrofit Instructions For New Corded Folding Top Cover"

Hoping for a flawless install...

Agree. I just looked at mine at the dealership. It is on and settling in/stretching. They have the car for week so they are taking their time. Two GM field engineers (one showing the other) plus the service tech. It looks like a great fit. No waves and no exposed cables. Looks as good as the 2013 in the lot. I can't wait to see it with all the trim back on.

Get your district manager's name and call to request field engineer install.

Let me know how things look after the top is up and down, and down for a few days. I would like to know if you find any wrinkles in it and how the headliner looks in the back.. Hope it is good for you and they did a good job.

You guys and gals asked if the service reps were moving our problems and concerns up the chain. Well, I emailed one of them on Facebook who I worked with on my last car and this was her response.

Based on what I see here in my resources, it appears that we have been aware of this concern. This has been passed along to proper department and GM has been made aware.

I can assure you that we are looking into this. Feel free to keep me posted if you are made aware of any new developments. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks again.

i will be getting mine back tomorrow... i dropped it off monday, and SPECIFICALLY said get the top done, and completed BEFORE you send it to the body shop to fix the quarter panel they f-ed up the first time, because they are buffing and detailing the car while there.

today at 415 body shop calls and says "valenti just picked up your car" and i said thanks for calling me (i had asked them to)

i wait half hour, then call the dealer to check the status of the car, they said "just got it back from the body shop, we still have to water test the top, brush it out and should be ready to pick up tomorrow" WTF... ARE U KIDDING ME??

so i havent even seen it yet, but GM and their dealerships really are a bunch of complete inept idiots. if the car doesnt look brand new tomorrow, and if there are any flaws whatsoever in that quarter panel, im gonna snap.

pacecar -- Macedonia is just outside Cleveland, right? It's a bit of a drive for you, but you may want to check out Rogers Chevrolet in Woodhaven, MI (Detroit area). Their service department is excellent and from what I understand, their service department has been properly trained for top replacements. They fixed my 5th bow issue and applied the TSB fixes in just over a day and they did an awesome job. Outstanding people there and I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to you. I highly recommend.
