It looks like it is, one photo showed the new extension with the gauge, and sensor relocated.

Ok, so I'm freaking out. Ugh............. Not enough to clog the oil but sure looks ugly. The brand new oil and new filter I put on last night made no difference.

So what say you guys.

Oh, the last picture is to show you how the filter can turn. I turned it 180 degrees before I cut the paper filter since I used a dremel to cut the casing open. So this is not shavings from that.

That sounds like a crack to me, metal expanding when it gets warm and leaking more than when it is cold.

Only what you see in the pics. And it is magnetic.

DANG PQ, I haven't read through this build thread for a while. This idle issue has been plaguing you for a while. After I went the FI route on my old 5th gen and had nothing but issues I decided to get a factory warranted FI 5th gen

I agree but the oil pump goes straight to the fuel filter. Those shavings can't get past the filter. So I should be ok swaping the pump. At least in theory right?

Only place they could be is in the filter or the tube that feeds it directly.

Damn. Nicely done. And a pulley and tune will make it faster than ours anyway.

I'm not familiar with the plumbing of the lubrication system on our cars, but usually the oil comes out of the oil pump, lubricates the components, goes through the filter, then back to sump. The oil usually is pulled out of the oil pan through a screen by the oil pump.

Again, I am only going by my experience with what I work on.

IF its the pump, in theory, yes I believe that is correct. Still makes me nervous.

I looked up the flow diagram last week and it goes in the order; Pick Up Tube/Pump/Sensor/Components

I'll try and find a diagram.

Humm, by looking at that it could be metal from the pump if there was not any in the pan. I would say when you drop the pan try to wipe some of it out and see if you have any metal slivers in there.

So another thing to check, if its reachable with the blower....

The restrictor that's just above the filter, in your diagram. It's accessed by a plug in the back of the block. Could be bad/plugged. Doesn't explain the metal in the filter, but could be causing the low pressure.
