Actually, a dash mat can save your beautiful dash. I lived for 20 years in sunny California and the last 5 years in hot and sunny Central Texas, parking the cars outside in the sun can destroy just about any interior. With a dash mat, my '85 Corvette's dash is still like new. I have one for my 2SS/RS when ever I have to park it outside for an extended period of time. Otherwise, I take it off once I have it inside the garage the rest of the time.

I use to consider a dash mat a must have for any car when I was living in the dry sunny deserts of the southwest.

I am still waiting for my camaro to arrive, but just looked at a dash mat online...still undecided about purchasing one now since I don't have the extreme heat to deal with where I live now. Not having one just "feels" strange, Haha!

you can always use a sunshade when parking it, just mentioning another option.

Sun Shade would be OK, but having to put it on and take it off constantly (7-8 times a day) can get to you. I used to have sun shade in California as well as car cover. Now I don't have to as I park my cars in the garage most of the times. However, with 3 cars garage and 6 cars, I do have to keep the SS outside for a few days at a time on occasion.

I got my from anythingauto.com. It looks better without the dash mat so I don't take pictures with it on. However, you do have to do what you must to protect your baby.

I don't think he is worried about just the sun damage, He said he wanted the dash mat so

here are a couple, They say they are for the Camaro but in the pictures they are on different cars. I think those are just to show what they look like.
