With the GT500 dropping a reported 100lbs. next year, the Z/28 has some stiff competition. This 11.36 1/4 mile run is faster that Evan Smiths 11.592 time for a '10 GT500 on drag radials.

I will never understand why everyone is so caught up in this HP war from the factory. Anyone can spend the difference in the cars and have 100s more in HP for less money.

I think it comes from a similar mindset to the one that prompts people to restore 50 year old cars using 50 year old technology (by contrast, I say build it with the new stuff) - because thats the way it came from the factory.

To me its all about the $$

Ford has the GT (Amazing)
Chevrolet has the Zr1 (Amazing)
Dodge/Mopar has the Viper (Amazing)

Each one of those are simply amazing cars and would take any of them. I am personally glad that they do not put 400hp in the 20k dollar range because it would mean a lot of inexperienced drivers would be a danger on the road.

Lastly, when cars have this much HP it comes down to the driver most of the time..

Evan Smith's time was not on full slicks, he was on drag radials.
