I owned a Lexus ES for 10 years before getting my Camaro. That car was virtually trouble-free. I can only hope the Camaro does that well although I don't really expect it to. If it stays reasonably trouble-free that will be fine with me.

Good press for the Camaro is good, not going to complain there!
It's a boon for resale values if these cars continue to be reliable, and maybe something to consider for those people who have stayed away from the Camaro, remembering some of its past reliability--and quality--problems of the 3rd and 4th gen eras. God I loved those cars, but they were mostly constructed with chewing gum and tape, it seemed, and the early years of the LS1 were riddled with piston-slap disaster, along with Optispark issues for the (first gen) LT1. My only quip with JD Power is that I don't think 3 years is necessarily a good judge of "reliability" --what they're saying is, the cars are mostly trouble-free during their bumper-to-bumper warranty period of 36 months. Anything that could happen during that time is covered, with roadside assistance. I'd be interested in a longer-term study, say, how the car continues to be reliable (or not) up to the end of it's serviceable life, most cars which can probably go 150k or more these days without much ado. |

I'm at 95,000 miles, and I beat the hell out of this thing. So far, no problems, aside from some broken lug studs, which I assume were the result of a shop over-torqueing them. While my testimony is only anecdotal, I will say that this thing is dependable as hell.

Maybe people don't buy these cars for reliability........but maybe they should. These cars are rock solid.....as good as anything anybody else makes.....Probably better, when you consider how they get pounded on.

I looked hard at buying a 996. Look up Intermediate Shaft Bearing (IMS), Rear Main Seal (RMS), and D-Chunk. Making the decision to buy a Camaro for about the same money and with a warranty was easy.
