Question Dye for Leather stitching?

I'd like to dye the stitching in my leather to a bright yellow to match the car. Anyone know what product(s) work well for this? It will be tedious, I know but I don't want to dye the leather around the stitching!

I'm gonna say it can't be done. I've been doing leather work for damned near 20 years, and you can't turn black stitching yellow.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it my car too, but the only option you really have is to have all new seat covers made. I doubt you could even re-sew it all together because of the stich marks in the leather.

Don't do the sharpie.

MY suggestion is to get some yellow rit dye. Pour a bit out into a bowl of water to dilute it, and then rub it onto the stitch carefully with a q-tip, and wipe it off the leather. Let it soak in. Will turn the stitching yellow without messing up the leather.

Near impossible IMO. I was going to have my C6 seats stitching airbushed and was not worth the chance of messing up something that was fine.

I would just redo the stitching with whole new seats. It is costly but amazing. We have our car done in all blue

Here is yellow stitching done for the Camaro, maybe that will give you a good idea how it looks. If we can help you with anything let me know.

No problem, I just can't afford the custom cover solution but I have all the time in the world to do it myself.

So does the leather worker think the RIT dye will work?

Thumbs up I did it with Reeves

I used reeves acrylic paint i would NOT use oil base. it took about 4 hours to do the whole car. Take your time and do about 6 inchs at a time get a big bucket of water and a few wash cloths to whipe the excess of quick. Im trying to post the pictures on this link. I will have them in my alblum under my profile.[ATTACH]Name: IMG00030-20100908-1432.jpg

People need to know this is not a perminate solution. Someone else did this and it started wearing in a few weeks. Maybe if you keep redoing it then yes.

Just becareful...
