Borla S type

I'm planning on get a axle back system (Borla S) for A6 SS and really want to know how bad it sounds when it switchs to 4 cylinder ? Does it sound like a ricer?

it kind of burps when afm kicks in and out. got quite a few compliments on the sound of my car (kooks longtubes to borla s catback) during this weekends track days on fontanas speedway roadcourse.

things like wow thats how american v8's are supposed to sound was repeated a lot over the past two days

No way around it. It doesn't sound good when the AFM kicks in. If it bugs you just shift into paddle mode and it'll turn it off.

you can also play with the throttle i have found out that by moving the pedal it kicks out of afm you dont have to speed up just press the pedal a little bit and it goes away sometimes i do that a couple of times and the afm quits coming on

Doesn't sound like a ricer, but it doesn't sound good... I believe you still have resonators with the axle backs from the stock midpipe so it isn't as bad as you think. I ran them for about 3 months before I could afford the rest of my power adders and headers/mid pipe. Best sound with headers IMO, so its a good start for you.

I have the SS A6 with Borla axleback and love everything about the Borla, except when the AFC kicks in. It does sound just like a 4 cylinder. (crappy) For a while I used the paddle shifter to keep in from kicking on. About 8 months ago gave up and did the "Ted J" fix, now all is well. (very well)

I ran the borla s axle back for approx 3 months, you can notice the afm switching on and off but it is not that bad. I do have a 2012 a6 and have heard the 2010-2011 afm is alot more noticable. I have since changed the mid pipe and tuned out the afm, I can say chevy should have never made these cars with afm. Just my .02
