Here are the after photos... I think Dave snapped a few before shots that he will hopefully add. The paint wasn't horrid, but it certainly did not look like this. For those wondering, he used HD Poxy as the seal/wax. I'm still on the fence as to whether I like the look of the Poxy better than Zaino... but it's still great either way. Enjoy!!

HD Car Care - Detroit

Just wanted to pop in here and say thanks to Marty for allowing me the opportunity to work on his ZL-1. It had a super fun time and I'm pleased with the results! Even though his expectations for this project weren't total perfection, we were still able to get pretty darn close. Total time spent was about 18 hours (2 people).

BEFORE PICS:

BEFORE VIDEO:

We ended up using all HD Car Care products including HD Cut via Meg's MF pads on our Rupes 21 for the correction portion. Followed by HD Polish to remove any pad marring that had been created. Because our client was adamant about having Zaino applied, we did a Dawn wash to prep for the process.

Here are some pics immediately taken after the stripping wash:

But, because of the insanely soft clear on the hood, within a few strokes of applying Z5 we noticed that the brand new foam applicator was installing moderate scratches in the finish. We tried using several different varieties of pads, but still to no luck. Because I'm not a fan of applying Zaino with a DA, we switched our course of protection after repolishing out the scratches that we just put in. We switched to HD POXY via red B&S foam pad with a GG on speed 4. This solved the problem immediately.

While POXY was curing/linking, we removed the tires/wheels for cleaning and Opti-Coating. We chose not to apply any dressing to mitigate any potential chemical from getting on the uncured coating during the customer's drive back home.

AFTERS:

Can't believe you'd let Dave touch your car, what a hack! jkjk. Poxy ftw on the Gen 5's though, been my go-to the last few I've done. Well done Dave, killed it!
