Since I can't afford a new camaro
Can you suggest a good alternative I can buy used for under $10k?
Back in 2003 I was nuts about the Mazda Rx-8, another car in the Camaro's price range which should be rather inexpensive used now. Please include a year range and mileage I should look for. |

4th gen. F-bodies.
A lot of them are going for under $10k.

Do you have a car that qualifies for the cash for clunkers program?? That could give you a good $4,500 for you car which might be worth $300..

Only thing I'd worry about is looking at replacing the power window motors at 100K miles because it seems to be a common (but not too much so) problem on 4th gens. If I can't score a proper 5th Gen I'm going to snag a 4th gen Low Mileage T/A. Dunno why but I just love that 4th gen body style over the 4th Gen Camaro. Not to mention.. "what 5th Gen T/A?" |

Agreed, 4th gen T/A style is way better than 4th gen Camaro style. If replacing the power window motors is your concern for a used car, I'd say you're doing OK.
I really liked the Edmunds list because it seems to have something for everyone. From large luxury sedans to Japanese RWD coupes to hot hatches to muscle cars.

Actually, looking at my options, I may do a T/A as well as a 5th Gen. Pay off the T/A early on with low mileage and clean up the exterior (gaudy radio antenna being one.) Then pick up a lightly used SS later on. Cheap now and the 5th gen SS will be cheap later too. Hmm.. *strokes goatee* |
