No wonder Chevy is behind in sales

I went to two big dealerships in LA and both don't even present the camaro in their front line views. They are still pushing 5th gen models. When I said I need to speak to the ordering specialist both of the dealers didn't know what a 1LE is or even know about the new zl1 . This Doesn't give me faith in long term customer support but when I go into galpin ford and inquire about 2017 Shelby cobra they know everything .... Will see cash in hand isn't good enough

My experience of going into a Chevy dealer is that often the sales people have no idea what is what.....

Most salesmen know about the product they are selling, but some do not. If they want a future in sales, they will learn quickly. As far as the Shelby is concerned, the dealers are asking 10k to 25k over MSRP for the GT350 and the salesman gets a good chunk of that profit(which is why they are familiar with that model).

The ZL1 will run circles around that Shelby and thanks to the ADM, it will also be cheaper in most trims. I never rely on a salesman for info when purchasing a performance car, I do my own research.

I noticed your location says GA, I assume you live in CA now. There has to be some good dealers in LA. The one in Cerritos had a lot of 6th gens when I went by there recently. My experience has been very good so far where I ordered in Orange. If that's convenient for you hit me up and I'll give you the info.

Exactly! That and remember most of these salesman are not car enthusiast like us. To most its just a job.

When i bought my 5th gen i asked my local dealer about zero percent financing. Guy told me it wasnt available for the Camaro. So i went to a dealer that actually new stuff about cars they sell and got zero percent. Also told that same dealer when they had a 6th gen id like to look at it. Well there is one setting out front for a month now. Cant even email me. I have no idea how these places stay open.

They need restructuring most Dealer's the level of knowledge is embarrassing . On very large scale the training for service and sales is very poor most don't have any understanding of products in sales it's basically like going to Walmart .

The dealer I got my Camaro at had a couple 2016 Camaros by their building entrance....which is not visible from the street. It turns out they had another 20 or so 2016 Camaros in the back parking lot which is even more hidden. If a salesman didn't inform me and take me back there, I'd never have seen it. Also, they had the yellow/black/hyper blue cars back there.....the more flashy attention grabbing colors while the grey one was out front of their building.

I drove by a couple months ago and saw their inventory from the street....I saw about 10 2015 Camaros and no 2016s. So I kept driving.....only when I looked online and saw their inventory did I realize that they hide their inventory.

Why is everyone so concerned about sales??? They are selling enough of them. With the price they are charging, they dont need to be the top seller.

thats what most dealers are like. the entire concept of them is outdated. About a year ago i called a dealer to inquire about a gt350, the person who answered didnt know but thats to be expected it was fairly new at the time and she just answers the phones. She transfered me to the sales department, i said GT350, he replied oh yeah nice truck, i hung up the phone. I am not exaggerating.

Same with my dealer, very large showroom and no Camaro's on the floor. One white V6 Camaro sitting on the side lot, not visible to the main street. The rest were on the back lot not visible to anyone unless your driving thru the lot. They have 12 new Camaro's, 3 15's and 9 16's if I remember correctly. I'm assuming they don't care my Camaro and another members are the only ones they have sold.

It all depends on the dealership in my experience. Some are just out to sell as many of whatever they have as possible and others are passionate about their brand and know everything about their products.

Just gotta do your research!

Typically when I'm looking to buy a car I'll ask the salesman lots of questions I already know the answers to, just to see if they know their product. I'm constantly amazed at how ignorant most sales people are about the product they are trying to sale! I much more appreciate the ones that will tell me they aren't sure or will find out, than the ones who try and BS me!

I've had salesmen tell me a rear wheel drive car was front wheel drive, 6 cylinders were 8 cylinders, 8 cylinders are 6 cylinders, 7 speed manuals are 6 speed manuals etc etc! I refuse to deal with a salesman that doesn't know they're product!

The salesman I bought my new Camaro from was the same guy that sold me my Vette and is the local dealership's Corvette guru. When I went in to look at the Gen 6 I asked a couple questions that he immediately admitted too not knowing and that he didn't know much about the new Camaros yet. Two days later when I went back in he knew the new Camaro like the back of his hand and was very excited about the car! That's a guy that knows how to sell a car, especially an enthusiasts car! When I traded in my Vette Grand Sport on the new Camaro I took off the custom Grand Sport license plate frame and gave it to him to put on his Grand Sport!
