Why would you want remote start on a manual anyways?

Honestly I didn't think it was possible. I've had my foot slip on my car before while cranking it up just as it turned over and it just stalled out. I would think it would have to be one some hill to actually engage and the car.

you would just need to install a lock-out mechanism so it wouldn't start if your car was in gear...

and as far as why you'd want it on a manual? same reason you want it on an automatic

I'd like to have it -- but not enough to do anything about it

Leave the car in neutral. I've never left my car in gear unless in parked on a steep bank and you don't find many of those in DFW. Ill be getting remote start when I get my viper alarm installed this fall.

They do sell remote starts for sticks, but they require that you put the car in neutral and set the parking brake, then activate the remote and then turn off the car with the remote. Only then can you restart the car with the remote. Seems like too much hassle for me.

Why don't they just design it not to start while it is in gear? It's possible.
