2SS vs. 2LT

Okay, so I'm looking at the chevy site right now (which they still haven't updated for 2013 ) and I would like to know what the extra 7k dollars for the 2SS gives you. Besides 100hp and a mail slot what else do you get ? 7K seems a bit steep for a V8. However I don't want this to turn into a V6 vs V8 thread. Thanks everyone!

That's basically it. They are basically the same model except for the engine. There are other things u can get but u don't get them just cause its a 2SS or 2_LT. U want 100 more ponies you gotta pay the price.

Oh wait, breaks are different, chasis, rear end. As for as accessories go they both have em. Now when u get technical a v8 cannot have the same exact components as a v6.

I forgot about the brakes as well... Is the chassis and rear end stiffer? or are there more major differences?

The SS gives you a stiffer ride. It's also heavier. Some folks like the stiffness and these types of cars.

I believe that the suspension, brakes, transmission, and exhaust are all different. I myself went with a 2LT because I don't race on or off a track and I live in a town that you really can't open up a V8 for more than getting on and off the express way. The price for the upgrade just did no have any benefit for me.

Also I bought the car for the looks and not necessarily the power. Though the V6 is plenty of fun to drive and still has a lot of get up and go.

2SS gets a suspension upgrade, unless your 2LT is a manual it gets different gearing in the rear end, Brembo brakes, different trans, mail slot and slightly different rear diffuser. Interior is the same, aside from the SS embroidered headrests.

Then there's the extra torque from the V8. Everybody talks hp hp hp, as if it's the only thing worth looking at

Besides a stiffer suspension, larger brakes, a much louder, free-flowing exhaust, stronger transmission, additional ~100hp etc, yes--the torque is incredible but you have to drive it to feel it....

I agree with 1BADLS3.
Drive both and see if it is worth the difference. I went from a C5 Corvette into my 2LT 2011 Camaro and am fine with my choice. You might want the extra horsepower of the V8. The fuel mileage isn't that different but I am sure the extra umphhhh is. Just get what you can be happy with for most of the term of your payments and or the factory warranty.

Totally different ride from the 2LT to the 2SS. I have owned both, now have the SS and would NEVER go back to the RS. I like the SS that much better. Gas milage is hardly noticible. Insurance is less for the SS, that seems wrong but is true... Save money that way!
