Zl1 Clutch
Any thoughts on the stiffness of this clutch? The last stick shift vehicle i had was a 2002 TA. Any difference? Not sure whether my legs/knees can handle.

Well, idk, but for the sake of ZL1 owners I hope its more potent than the clutch on the current lineup.

It is a twin plate clutch so in theory it will offer more strength without having to be heavier

It's gotta' be pretty nice on the leg/foot. No one's driven one, save for the Member at the gathering, but that wasn't production. I'm affraid this answer won't come for at least a few more months. I' check out V's and ZR1s, though, to get an idea; it should fall between either of those

The car wasn't started, but the clutch on the ZL1 at the MCACN 2011 show that i sat in had a nice, light, easy clutch. Don't know if it's going to be the same or similar to the production clutch, but I'd imagine so.

If you're concerned about the clutch and your knees I don't think you could go wrong ordering the auto. Especially if you're planning to keep the car for a long time. Your knees are only going to get older and crankier when shifting the manual.

IMVHO - 6L90 doesn't really sound too different, in operation, than 6L80 (given - I only know what's been reported and what I have posted in the FAQ), but it's posting impressive performance, so there should be no shame in jumping behind one. If it weren't so expensive on the front end (and on the back end where I know I'd have to make my mods' to be happy), I'd probably be giving it the nod' because I know I could cobble together a combination that'd be tough to beat, dollar-for-dollar, but I just want a manual this time and it's less expensive

I'm hoping for more of a mechanical feel like the 1960s Chevy muscle cars.

I've been driving my wife's srt8 challenger more lately. It has a lovely, light clutch that is really a pleasure to drive. I suspect the ZL1 clutch will be equally light and lovely. Makes me reconsider a manual when the time comes to order.

Exactly! I'm, not counting GG and the option itself, a converter is going to be near $1K and a tune another $500, so that's a lot of bread. I think that adding DRs to that combination and it would run low-11s on a good cool day with the minor bolt-ons, and break the 10s with the pulleys I'd like to throw in there
