What would it take to beat a 302 boss/ in a drag race with a 1le

Ok ive got a 1le on order(should be in soon) and i know all about the track testing and the big arguement but the boss will take us in a straight line...what would it take to at least run heads up, maybe even pull a little on them
...and im only looking for bolt ons...is it even possible

Headers intake tune all you need to get the best potential from your car other than a cam or FI.

Yep. The guy I bought my gxp from replaced it with a boss and with my headers and intake its close. I make more power than him on the same dyno but he is lighter.

Headers, intake and a tune should get the job done. They make more ponies right out of the box and they are a bit lighter but it's nothing some bolt ons can't handle.

With street tires it will be more of a drivers race then anything if running on the strip.

id say its kinda a drivers race. if you use the mag times of 12.7 (1le) and 12.3 (Boss) then the 4/10 could be made up with an intake, high flow cats, exhaust (weight loss only), thoroughly heated eagle f1 g2's, and practice, practice, practice. the mag times also dont list 60 ft times so there could be some tenths in there. drag radials and smaller rims count as bolt ons to some people also.

someone didn't read the thread title...DRAG race...not road course. Ford is attacking Chevy at the drag strip and we're fighting back at the road course

Whatever.....I LOVE my Camaros (5th gen) and would take them over the current Mustang any day!

Main problem is lack of traction. Throw on some drag radials and learn your launch. The first 60 ft of a drag race determinds the whole race. .

The way I see it if hes on street tires then so should you be! Boltons and a tune should take care of it in the power aspect and now its down to the best driver! If slap tires on it, kind of a no brainer!

LT headers, cai and tune would get the job done vs a stock boss. Throw on some 305 DR'S with some good driving and you would have a good edge. Of course if the boss were to do a few simple bolt ons like a tune, off road h pipe and 15inch wheels and drag radials you would then need a cam.

wheels and tires are the definition of bolt on...and better wheels and tires would make a 1le better in every aspect.
