Good place to get windows tinted in Northern Virginia
Well the summer is almost upon us and I am finally going to break down and get my windows tinted. Does anyone who lives in the Northern Virginia area have a recommendation for a place to get it done? I am paranoid about leaving my car with someone, and want to make sure they are reputable. The thought of someone working around my car with an exacto knife makes me cringe, I will be very upset if I take it to someone who isn't a true professional and puts scratches or damage on the car. Any recommendations are welcome for both a shop, as well as a particular tint product.
Thanks, Chad |

was it all 5 windows? If so that's not bad. Because the radio reciever is in the rear window they have to use a ceramic tint. Ceramic tint=$$$$

I agree. They do very good work. I did not do the ceramic on the rear window, no issues. But then again I am listening to the iPod 99% of the time.

I got a quote for $329 for their "Pinnacle" series tint (which is the ceramic coated tint) and $149 for their "classic" series tint (dyed film). Is it worth the extra $180 to go for the ceramic based tint? Any idea if they have a military discount?
My car is black on black so I am thinking it may be worth it for the heat rejection properties - but I'm not familiar with the FormulaOne (my last car had Llumar) brand of tinting products and haven't seen the products in person. |

Here are some with my pinnacle series tint. Ceramic is better for the rear window. 35 all around.

I looked on the Virginia DPS website for what the law is in Virginia - it says 50% is the maximum on the sides and 35% is the maximum on the back/rear.
I was thinking with a black car with black interior 35% on the sides would look way too dark and risk getting me pulled over. Edog thank you for the pictures - the 35% on yours looks good, what color is your interior? Any thoughts? |

I originally made an appointment with LA tint and they quoted me $225 for all 5 windows. Then the sales guy i bought my car from at Koons in Tysons Corner told me about their tint guy who could do it for $150. The guy does it by appointment only, usually on the weekends and does it right there in the shop at the dealership. PM me if you want the guys contact info

What kind of tint does he use? The $225 quote from LA tint was probably for their "medium grade" product, I'm curious what kind of product that guy at Koon's is using. I bought my car at Koon's in Tysons as well back in August 2009, who was your salesman?
