The 2011 GT500 already made 550HP and weighed less than an SS Camaro, why would Ford need to increase it's power or performance to counter a 550HP Camaro? We did not find out about PTM and magnetic ride until much, much later. Quite frankly, I tend to agree with the folks who've said the primary impetus to create a stronger GT500 was because the margin between the GT500 and the new Boss 302 was way too close considering the price difference.

So ford had no reason to try to embarrass GM? and honestly if the 13 gt500 delivers on promisses I think it will. until GM responds.

your thought about why might also be a factor. but the main reason for a performance increase is competition. the Boss 302 is a road course car, that just happens to accelerate darn good. (as should road course cars). if Ford just wanted to increase performance in the 500. then gearing and suspension could have done that. And then their customers would be paying that dreaded GG tax. so they increase the power and that increases performance in most cases. hopefully they didn't hit the GG tax. but who knows. that information hasn't really hit yet.
