Dealers are afraid of modified cars. They represent a possible lawsuit if involved in an accident and customer service nightmare if they can't warranty the car post sale.
Mod the hell out of your cars but keep all the original parts. When it's time for the next best thing just convert you car back to stock and sell your mods on Camaro5 for somebody else to enjoy.

Exactly what I did. I really didn't think the lowering springs were that big of a deal. My tired back didn't really feel like removing them and going back to stock springs. Lesson learned...

Gotcha. It's been so long since I've traded a car that I didn't consider their ability to service it.

Now all kidding aside, I don't know what to say. Put I do like your problems.

I went back and forth for about an hour on the Z28 or the ZL1. I knew I wanted all the gizmos in the car, plus smooth riding.
ZL1 trumps the Z/28 in 98% of the situations. I will see how awesome that 2% turns out to be in a week.

Stephen, congratulations on your new Z28 purchase. I have always looked forward to reading about your ZL1 mods and accomplishments. I know you will enjoy the Z28. I enjoy taking my ZL1 to the track having done Sebring, Homestead and PBIR. But for the three or four times a year I track the ZL1 I know I do not need the Z28. I am curious though if you tracked the new Corvette before you decided to buy the Z28? I found tracking the Z51 much more precise compared to the ZL1. I have NOT tracked or driven the Z28 but curious if you found the Z28 a better track car compared to the Z51 or even a Z06?

I didn't try a C7 at the track but ran with a few of them and they are no joke. My wife said "no Vette" so I had to start somewhere and the Z/28 seemed the obvious choice.

Well if the wife said "NO VETTE" then the Z28 would have been my first choice too. Having tracked the ZL1 and a Z51 I can say that driving the Vette is like driving a scalpel. I love the brute force of the ZL1 especially down the straits but the Z51 is and feels much lighter and has much more finesse through the turns. I was in awe the first time I tracked the Vette, it was almost like it could read your mind as to what you wanted it to do. I am very fortunate to be able to have both cars. Both my wife and I are taking the 2 day driving school offered by Chevrolet at the Ron Fellows Driving School for C7 Corvette owners. The same offer should have been extended to Z28 owners. If you ever get a chance to track a Z51/Z06 I would like to get your opinion of how it compares to your Z28. Good luck with your new car and I wish you well.

Thanks! Good luck at the Ron Fellows Driving School! I will be able to give the ZL1 vs Z/28 comparison after next week at VIR. Can't wait!

It's sad that the 2 guys whose progress I followed most closely (cam, Stephen), have gotten rid of their cars. Cam did so much with so little, and Stephen's car ultimately ran what I would hope to run 1 day without going into the engine.

Congrats on getting a new Z28, but I find it funny that the dealers freak out over mods on cars but will have at least 5 brand new Chevy pickup trucks on the lot with at least a 6" suspension lift on them.
