2014 Hood Heat Extractor Mod
Hi - Just wanted to post a before and after on the work done to make the heat extractor stand out a bit. I have seen others who have done similar mods like this and they all look great, so it gave me a greater bit of motivation.
I wanted to focus this thread on the extractor itself for those who may be considering something along these lines. The idea behind this, specifically, was to mimic the red-behind-black on the 1LE wheel/Brembo combination that is so distinctive and always gets so much attention. Can hardly drive anywhere in this awesome 1LE without someone drooling over the wheels/brakes! This was relatively easy to do, only took about a day and a half(considering spray/paint drying time, color sanding and polishing/waxing). I let the painted piece sit for about 5-6 days before i wet sanded it. Once the piece was removed and cleaned, I used plastic adhesion primer first, then sprayed the piece with 2 aerosol cans of Red Hot base coat(I wanted to pick a color that was in the Camaro color family of course. ), followed by 3 coats of clear. I kept the fasteners black because I wanted the contrast and didn't want to deal with peeling/chipping on re-installing them. I will be adding the Roto-Fab Engine covers in Red Hot at some point and will paint the strut brace ends as well in Red Hot. Sorry the pics are in the garage, will try to get another shot of this in the sun, where it really shines the most. On the before shots: I taped the top piece down first, but this is not needed... I was afraid the piece was going to fall once I removed the plastic trim fasteners on the drip tray:

Thanks! I think it will be great to see everyone's color variations with this. The two parts split into top and bottom so the sky is the limit on color combinations. You should post pics when you are done!
