The gto looks cheesy imo but I've seen em move. There is one in my subdivision with license plates that says "404RWHP" of course anybody can get a plate to say anything but this one sounds like a beast.

An M6 06 GTO only weighs 100 lbs less than an M6 SS with a 26 HP deficit which still gives an all else being equal advantage to the SS...which mounts wider rear tires stock. The headers and tune however lends good gains to the ls2 just as they do to the ls3. That 30-40+ HP bump can make all the difference.
I had an 06 A6 GTO putting 630 to the wheels...tremendously well built car with an interior that should make GM feel shame about the camaro interior. If it didn't look like a low rent cavalier i might have kept it...

On the twists and turns a manual is better, on straight aways the auto has a slight edge. Auto is way too boring for me, I wouldn't care if it was a full 1/2 second faster 0-60, I would still buy a manual.
As far as the GTO vs Camaro. Again, I would rather lose in style than win and be ugly! There is always someone faster, but prettier............that is different!

The faster car is undisputable, so to some GTO owners, they might look at you as uglier and slower.

I don't think the GTO's would have sold nearly as many as they have/did if the G5 camaro would of been available as well. Hands down, the Camaro is SOOO much of a sharper looking car. The GTO's remind me of a modern Grand AM GT from the 90's. There's nothing, except power, that resembles the real GTO's of the day. Now those were stylish. GM seriously missed the boat with the new GTO's....
Oh yeah, headers and tune was the big difference..... |

No, GTOs (auto and manuals) have LS2s (400hp). To make 410 rwhp on a GTO you need bolt ons + cam (similar to an L99 A6 Camaro). Manual GTO dyno around 340 rwhp (on average). Automatic GTO dyno down around 320 rwhp (on average). In this case the owner had an A4 (auto) GTO would only be around 350 rwhp with headers and a tune. And don't forget, headers and a tune make a car noticably faster. Your axle back is worth 0hp and you intake maybe 10hp (maybe). He probably picked up 30-40hp with headers and a tune. |

Don't worry my a6 ss got beat by a 2004 stock cobra with parts from every car you can imagine. It was a piece of junk and beat me in every race we did. :/ I was very disappointed in my camaro.

The GTO was an extremely ugly car, its why it didnt sell. Nice package with an over sized Honda Civic body. |

Sounds right, stock Camaro's aren't that fast. It's easy to make the same speed out of 4th gens and Goats with a few bolt ons and a tune.
