TPMS Light on 2013 - 2014 Camaros
Hello all,
Just wanted to share a possible fix for anyone experiencing the infamous TPMS warning light, at least for 2013 and 2014 models. It might also be applicable for earlier models, if your RKE module (the remote control door lock module that also receives the TPMS signals) is located beside the rear view mirror. Generally, for 2010-2012 models, this was only those with remote start. Anyway, I have (had) an intermittent loss of signal from the driver's rear wheel, even after the TPMS sensor within said wheel was replaced. On my most recent visit, my dealer shared a "fix" identified as Document ID 3816855. It states: "Some customers may comment on the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) light on and/or loss of TPM reading displayed on the driver information center (DIC). This condition may be due to the HVAC blower setting on Max or Max-1, causing electro-magnetic interference (EMI) generating noise through the remote control door lock receiver to the body control module (BCM) wires, intermittently causing the TPM light to come on." The document goes on to recommend that the technician cut the connector to the RKE and run new wires for it via the driver's side (as opposed to the passenger side where it came from factory). I guess this gets the wiring away from the HVAC interference. They didn't do this to my car, so I don't know if it works. Instead, they replaced the RKE as was originally planned. If the problem comes back though, the above fix will be the "next logical step." Since my car will be going to bed for the winter, I won't know until spring whether this step is necessary. Hope this helps. |
