Unhappy Ice sucks (Updated with results)

Just got back from washing my car- first time since the freak ice storms we've had here in Dallas. My car lives outside, so it had it's fair share of ice on it these past two weeks.

While washing I noticed about 6 good deep scratches on various horizontal surfaces on the car (one huge and two medium on hood, and a few on the rear fender flares), and superficial scratching over the entire thing. I assume this has to be from ice sliding off the car. I think I can get them out with the PC and the new Green pad and SSHR, but it's borderline, these suckers look bad.

Mother nature can kiss my ass- as hard as I work to keep this paint flawless and now it's trashed just because I don't have a garage. Makes me nauseous to look at it.

And I know, I know , I'll try to snap some tomorrow afternoon, didn't have time today.

Here is one crappy cell phone pic of the worst one on the hood:

The scratch is there in the center of the hood, the white spots toward the right of the pic are either reflections or lint, not scratches.

4" pads dude, you can get it! Just watch the edge. You know the deal. Mine lives outside too, Vette is in the (so called) 2 car garage. I feel your pain.

I lived in Chicago for most of my life, and I have never personally seen ice scratch a cars paint from sliding off.
Not saying that is not what happened, but I have never heard of it.

Thanks, Roger

Use Meguires Ultimate Compound and a little elbow grease. It works great on scratches like this.

Why bother when he has a Porter Cable and our aggressive compound and pad??

That'd be like drinking warm beer b/c the stuff in the fridge is too cold LOL.

Guys I have no idea what it was. I'm just guessing. They weren't there before the ice storm, they are there now. That's all I know. The fact that they are only on horizontal surfaces makes me think it was ice sliding off, but its just a guess.

I have to find someone who will let me use their driveway and electricity since my apartment complex won't. Probably be next Friday before I get a chance. Ill try the big pads first then if that doesn't work ill order some spot pads.

Or you could bring it to me at a detailing clinic and I'll fix it for you... for free.

Somehow I feel like you have more pull with him than I do....but Dallas is a HUGE market, so it's logical.

I'm still gonna try to get them out myself this Friday, but if I can't I may be driving to see you this Spring Break!

I agree. We need to do Texas but the cost of setting up the very first clinic there is pretty substantial. There a thread about it on his forum.
